A very special B&B indeed which is off the beaten track, in fact in it's own valley. A magical medieval farmhouse in beautifully landscaped gardens; our stay was perfect. We felt welcomed and the hosts were very accommodating. Breakfast and dinner, cooked in the Aga, were both generous and delicious and we were pleased to find that they used locally... More

This is the most exquisite house and gardens in an ancient valley on the Welsh border. The house is unique and inspiring and our room was in it's own wing above the kitchen. We had a delicious dinner in the dining room with an open fire and enjoying relaxing with some of the owner, Arne Maynard's gardening books, in the... More

We spent a lovely three days here in October, a great season to appreciate the secluded, beatifully landscaped gardens which provide a stunning setting for this unique house. Our room was huge, with its own fireplace and raftered ceiling, all part of the original medieval farmhouse, adjoining the 16C tower. As Alaisdair Sawday says, there are scenic walks on your... My wife treated me to a 2 night stay at Allt-y-bela recently. I had no idea what to expect before we got there but I know she likes to find the unusual and quirky. Allt-y-bela is a medieval farmhouse with a turret. It is a private home but two rooms are rented out to guests. We both felt very honoured... More

The weather was not good and it was muddy but this was a lovely stay in a gorgeous orange house - lots of beams, old furniture and nooks and crannies - and one of the loveliest gardens I've ever seen. The host was very welcoming and the housekeeper cooks a delicious breakfast, taken in the relaxing kitchen. Even the animals... More

My wife booked the accommodation about 3 months ago. A week before our arrival, we asked the owner in an email if there was anyone else staying at the house and if we were able to use the cooking facilities. We received a reply which politely answered our questions…offering us an evening meal etc. Then before we had a chance... More

I cancelled this visit after a series of unusual and repeated requests from this woman. She wanted to have exclusive use of the house and was not prepared to book all of the rooms. We run a B&B in our own home and felt uncomfortable that she expressly wanted to be alone in the house. We provide evening meals on... More

An amazingly restored medieval house at end of country lane, painted in a stunning ochre which works well against the greens of the topiary. Old furniture casually and artfully displayed in a series of rooms, quite dark inside with multitude of beams in first storey. A peaceful and restrained garden with perfect palette of colours, and textures. Hens, and a... More
