This Hotel was one of the best that I stayed in during my holiday in China. Friendly staff. Went out of their way to provide us with an earlier breakfast when asked. Comfortable warm beds with electric blankets. Airconditioned and heater in the bathroom. Ate one evening meal there which was great. Very clean. wifi available in reception and dining... More

We were booked into this hotel for 3 nights by a travel agent. The hotel is "quaint" Tibetan style and is as bad as other reviewers have stated. It is a good 500m to the front gate and then another 500m or so to a part of town that has any activity. The beds are a thin matress on top... More

Pictures on the internet give you the idea that this is a beautiful hotel but it is long gone glory ! The entranceway goes through a poorly maintained garden (as if you enter a ghost-town). The room as well as the bathroom was nog really clean. The bed had no mattress but just a cover over a board. There is... More

Vantage Tours put us in this dump. The rooms were dirty. Our sheets were dirty. We asked for clean sheets but they wouldn't provide them. The bathroom was filthy. There was an open drain in the floor with no cover. The whole place was cruddy. I have pictures of the furniture with paint peeling which I am sending to Vantage... More

I read the good, bad and ugly reviews for this hotel. My positive comments regarding this hotel are that the hotel decor does represent Tibetan life - the platform floor, low and hard beds, floor pillows, lovely draperies - I loved them. I am short and when I sat down on the low beds, it was my cup of tea,... More

Tibetan layout which means the beds are low and the bedroom layout different. We found the rooms clean and comfortable and the bathroom facilities good, so our experience did not matach that of precious reviewers. Dinner in the upstairs restarant was superb and the wait staff very helpful and pleasant. We also ahd problems with iternet connections but accepted that... More

Reception greeted us without a smile, told us how to get to our room. Done out in Tibetan style but filthy, our toilet had not even been cleaned yuk. The rooms are bordering on dangerous as the beds are low to the floor and a few steps to the side is a step to the lower level of the bedroom,... More

Here is our MAJOR CONCERN on the accommodations during this tour of Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China. As we pulled off the main drive into Gyalthang and drove the 400 yards to the hotel we were very concerned - trash piles on the right side of the drive for 100 yards. Stunted trees with cattle grazing and manure, even... More

Well-maintained property in charming Tibetan decor. Good restaurants and helpful staff. Rooms can do with better amenities and heating in the cold Shangri-la autumn.

We had a very pleasent 4 day stay in this beautiful Tibetian style hotel. Rooms are clean, nice bathrooms with hot water (24 hours), new white towels - as a reaction to the last comment??- , very friendly good English speaking staff, rich breakfast-buffet. Unfortunately in this low season period the Spa was not opened. The distance to the town was... More
