Stayed here in the very hot summer. The hotel has very large grounds with many shaded areas to sit out in and a really great pool. The pool has loungers and towels supplied and is open until 1700 or so. The car park is at the back of the grounds you have to buzz in to get the gates to... More

Ercolano is known for its ruins, not its hotels. So you can imagine our surprise when we discovered the oasis of good taste and affordable luxury that is Miglio D'Oro. The hotel is a former villa turned four-star hotel that has a vast garden replete with fountains, trees, flowers, dining nooks and crannies... all walled off from the lackluster town.... More

This happens each night at 09/14/2011 and 09/15/2011 (wednesday and thursday) directly in front of the window of our room in the backyard/garden: 08:00 pm: 100 people started with eating 10:00 pm: soft music begun, people become drunken and started with singing and dancing 00:00 am: roaring E-music begun 02:00 am: fire-work with 100 rockets begun Manager was not present... We stayed 7 nights in this hotel. We received a room that was comparable to a small appartment for approximately 100 € /night. The hotel and room is very claen. The restaurant was very good (25€ for a menu of the day), the breakfast was ok. The swimming pool was open from 9:00 to 17:00, for us closed a bit... More

Not that they didn't try, not that the room wasn't OK and not that the new pool wasn't wonderful in the heat but... The front desk had more important things to do than working that day, the room was on an unused wing that needed a real scrubbing and the new pool wasn't open after 7pm and the 'features' didn't... Others have commented and argued about Ercolano in the comments below. I agree it is a pit. BUT the Hotel Miglio D'Oro is a gem. I could not believe that we were only paying 99 Euro for what we got. The room was immense with 3 views (Vesuvius, street, and Mediterranean) and balcony. Hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.... More

Read enough reviews about Ercolano and you will soon realise that it isn't the best town to stay in. However, for the independent traveller looking to do Herculaneum, Vesuvius & Pompeii the location is ideal. The hotel is a very short walk away from the first one and the railway station is only a 10 minute walk away. The hotel... More

We stayed here for one night whilst visting Herculaneum. It is perfectly positioned for visiting the site, and we were very pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The room was airy and spacious and the grounds are very impressive. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was some of the best we had on our whole trip - and... More

I'm sorry but you really need to ignore the Cruise Shippers complaining about "gritty" Ercolano. This is a working town with incredible ruins underneath. This hotel looks like it was built in the Napoleonic age - huge gardens - grand vistas - incredible marble fountains - all in various stages of past glory - extremely charming. The location is great... More

Arrived with 5 others at Naples Airport and drove (hire car) directly here. Unfortunately I followed the signs to the back entrance, but on safely parking had a pleasant walk through the large gardens. Our rooms were ready, clean and very pleasant, all with views, either of the bay or Vesuvius. We had 3 rooms all twins with ample space... More
