We had a lovely large elegant room with a double balcony overlooking the street so we could watch the world go by, and with a sea view into the bargain. As I dropped my car keys down the almost imperceptable gap between the floor and the lift into the bottom of the lift shaft at 11.30 pm, which were promptly... more

Excellent hotel in horrible surroundings. Nice garden. Would given it a 4 if it wasnt for the staff in the restaurant. Some of them was really unpleasant. Stayed 6 nights in a very good room. Surroundings filthy, lots of garbage everywhere, the houses really need a facelift. Never felt unsafe though. If You go by car, prepare for the worst... more

For a very reasonable price we had a giant room, beautifully appointed, in elegant surroundings (yes you do want the park view, not the ocean view). Ercolano is gritty, but Herulaneum is steps away and Vesuvius, Oplonti, etc. nearby. We drove, and parked in the secured gated lot. Not sure I would want to stay here without a car. Food... more

Our only reason for staying in Ercolano was to visit the ruins at Herculaneum. The nicest hotel in the area was the Miglio D'Oro. I was not impressed with Naples/Ercolano at all and most certainly won't be back, and it was a little weird driving through this dirty city and then to come upon the big pink palace that is... more

Ercolano is not really on the radar for most travellers to Italy. Its main attraction is Herculaneum, a sister site to Pompeii. A bridal show was underway during our stay so the public areas were crowded and the staff were very busy but still attentive and helpful. The restaurant was good and the rooms were lovely. more

This is a beautiful hotel with lovely furniture and interesting and modern artwork. Unfortunately the atmosphere is very cold. It was very quiet and we felt like we may be the only guests which didn't help. It was almost impossible to get served at the bar in the evenings before dinner and actually impossible after dinner (we went out for... more

drove through herculaneum with some anxiety as we serched for the hotel ! Its not the kind of area you would expect to spend any time at all never mind holiday time ! so.... great sigh relief as we pulled up outside the hotel and realised that it looked ok. Better than ok inside,it was lovely!!! How could such a... more

My wife and I just stayed here for 6 nights and beg to differ with some of the negative comments made by other reviewers of this beautiful hotel. The Miglio D'Oro is a very nice 4 star hotel located in Ercolano, an old Campanian city that has that Mezzogiorno personality...admittedly a little gritty but colorful, full of life and filled... more

This hotel is a complete shambles... and in a slum to boot... with no local restaurants... no local bars... We arrived to be shown to our sea view room...a sea view across a building site and the local concrete factory... room was ok... free minibar with beer/water/tonic... Hotel was empty... you are rattling around a mansion... bar was empty.... restaurant... more

First, let me say that we had a wonderful trip to Mt Vesuvias and the ruins in Herculaneum. But..................... Be prepared when you get off the train in Ercolano. It's one step above a slum. We were told our hotel, The Miglio D'Oro, was within walking distance of the train station (200 meters we were told). But it's more like... more
