Great place to stay. We stayed two nights B&B the room was lovely, breakfast was spot on and we also had Sunday lunch which was beautiful. Right in the centre of Downham Market, with a lovely little bar too. Recommended and if we come to Downham Market again that's where we will stay.

The best way to describe this hotel is dated. The reception and bar area are traditional and not up to today's modern standard, not necessarily a bad thing so although not to my liking I'm sure it will appeal to some. The bedroom however was in great need of modernisation although perfectly adequate for my one nights stay

We visited down market on a recent day out saw the castle as they did lunch that was fine but i would say the service was poor and rude. Very small area for lunchtime service and the handyman paintin a door durin opening times.not good!

We had dinner here whilst on a short break. We sat in the bar as there was a function in the dining room. Our meal was good and plentiful served by very friendly staff and was extremely good value. Would recommend

Just had an enjoyable long weekend. Patrons very pleasant and accommodating. Very nice room and great breakfast. Nice bar in evening. Only problem was our room was a little cold but the weather was very cold and of course it is a listed building, heating was going flat out.

We recently stayed for one night while visiting relatives in Downham Market. Good central position with plenty of free parking. Hotel has just been redecorated so a faint smell of paint in the reception area but everything looks nice and fresh. We had room 7 on the first floor which was a good size and decent size bathroom. Everything very... More

Stayed for 2 nights whilst on business in Downham Market. Perfect position in the centre of town, rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, breakfast was lovely and the owners and staff were friendly and helpful, nice little lounge bar with pub prices.

Having to travel to East Anglia recently we found accommodation fairly limited in the specific area we were to visit. Then we came across this establishment and frankly it's not an easy one to review. On entry to the hotel it became clear there was some refurbishment was going on and that is good news. The greeting from this privately... More

Stayed for 3 nights in this well positioned and historic hotel. Always great service and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly owners. Was made to feel at home from the start. The only even slight negative was the work being done in the lobby but that didn't spoil my stay. Highly recommended and will use again.

We were 2 male mates staying overnight in order to visit WWT Welney very early on a Sunday morning. The hotel is in a very good location in the centre of this nice Norfolk market town and only 20 mins from WWT Welney. We had booked a twin room through Booking.com but the 'twin' part of the message hadn't got... More
