In its golden years, this property was run by the Prince Hotels group, a traditional brand of luxury hotels in Japan, and probably was a famous destination for golf aficionados. With the fall of the Japanese economy, those days are gone. The hotel is now run by Tokyu Inn group - which is more focused in mid-range business hotels than... More

Nice location, bit old hotel, essential amenities, expensive restaurant with poor service and few choices of menu. Kind of "French" restaurant trying to be chic but let all the left overs and dirty plates in the entrance of the restaurant instead of collect all dirty dishes to the kitchen. Nice hot spring but the staff didn't tell us about all... More

If you like pure atmosphere, avoid polution, and taste the nature's gift, you may like this hotel, especially if you're golfer. It takes approximately 5 minutes from Akamizu-station by taxi to the hotel, this is the most convinient way to reach here but i don't mind because the best view is calling for me. Actually I visit there in summer... More

We were given a big room with 2 double beds and a nice balcony view of the golf course and beyond. Good service, good onsen, especially the outdoor ones. Breakfast was below average. The chef overcooked the bulls eye eggs for the 2 mornings we were there. Good location if you drive to get away into a serene and quiet... More

The hotel is a resort hotel boasting a large golf course and onsen. For the price, however, the rooms were not great. The place is big but outdated. They do have a nice onsen. In the evening I went to the onsen and enjoyed the indoor and outdoor hot springs afterwhich I left feeling refreshed and cleansed. Unfortunately, that feeling... More

When you enter this hotel, you feel that you've been transported back in time to when the caldera was formed. Its SO old fashioned and way over priced. There was none of the usual genuinely freindly service, they weren't even pretend friendly. All the rooms except for the suites were twin configuration. Weird. The breakfast was served in a massive... More

Pros: 1) serene environment and the greenery and scenery surrounding. 2) endless golf course view and hotel allow a walk in the golf course before 7am. 3) refleshing view of pine trees everywhere. 4) indoor and outdoor hotsprings. 5) enjoyed the dinner very much, both food and service were good. 6) had a room with high ceiling and balcony overlooking... This is an interesting place. We came here because we wanted to go up to Mount Aso. Let me start by advising you that this is hotel is actually NOT a good place if this is your intention. Although listed under Aso in Tripadvisor and elsewhere, it is actually close to the village of Akamizu, one train stop before Aso.... More

We travelled from Beppu and stopped at this resort for a night before continuing our journey to Mt Aso the next day. The hotel is located in an isolated area, away from everything. The exterior of hotel is very ordinary, and there weren't many guests in the hotel either. The staffs at the reception and restaurants were polite, efficient and... More
