We stayed at Kohan Tei hotel just located at Toya Lake shore district. It is a good resort hotel for couples and family. Our room at high floor had an amazing lakeview, facing the famous Toya Lake. You must try many different kinds of onsen inside the hotel, which is really comfortable. There was a lot of variety of food... More

This is a big onsen hotel. While it loses out in personalized services, it make up with its efficiencies and the facilities that it has. Dinner was buffet and it was nice with a good spread. There was fireworks going on during the night at Toyako during summer and is a great after dinner entertainment.

The building itself was nice enough by Japanese big hotel standards. The room we stayed in was a semi-Western with very comfortable beds and a raised Japanese seating area with tatami mats by the window. The view was the best thing about the room which was a bit of a Frankenstein what with half of it being a completely standard... More

The view of the lake directly from the lobby was "wow"! Onsen was perfect but at certain time felt the hot spring was a little luke warm (the rotenburo)... Kaiseki had a lot more cold dish than hot dish. But it was thoughtful of them to provide a big private dining room for our group of 8 persons. Tatami room... More

It is my first time to Lake Toya and after a long flight, I was hoping to have a good rest. When I first entered the hotel, I was impressed with the lobby, and was looking forward to the room. To my disappointment, the toilet was really small and there were limited room space. After some adjustment, I tried to... More

Hotel faces a nice stretch of the lake and great place to watch the firework at 8:45pm. The attending front-desk staff speaks English but was impersonal while processing the check-in. When asked if it is a non-smoking room, she said 'yes' but obviously it is not because the nose does not lie. Unlike the previous onsen hotel who honestly told... More

This was a very old hotel. Age showed through in its decor, its carpet, whether in the lobby or in the room. The room had a musky smell, the only one that we have experienced among the 9 hotels that we stayed in Hokkaido. Room was quite small really, when the 2 futons were set up, there wasn't so much... Stayed at this hotel for a night just for Mother's day when we were in Hokkaido. They have special packages on their website for the occasion which offer rooms with a view plus breakfast (Good if you know a little bit of Japanese as the packages are not available on their English website ). The hotel is about 20 mins... More

we stayed for 2 nights in this hotel after visiting Sapporo and Rusutsu... we wanted a relaxing japanese experience and we definitely got it... In order to get to Toya, we took the Donan bus (local bus) from Rusutsu Resort to Toya... and the motomachi bus stop is right in front of the hotel... Lobby is beautiful with an amazing... More

The hotel room has a fabulous view of Lake Toya. The dining room also offers excellent view. The buffet food is acceptable and the management separates individual customers from tour groups so that you can eat leisurely. But as many fellow travelers wrote, the bathroom got a smell. I checked everything and it is wiped clean. I suspect the smell... More
