A great winter trip, snow everywhere. Hotel by the lake. The tatami room was very good, the view wonderful, the onsen fantastic. No other westerners there. No English spoken, but you'll manage with your phrase book. Get the local bus from the train station, and get off at the last stop, then walk 100 meters directly across one the road... More

Although the facilities in this hotel isn't spanking new, I quite enjoyed my stay here. My room location was not very good and it was right at the lift on the 1st floor which led to the dining room and the onsen. But the noise level was still ok. Futon beds were laid out when we went to have dinner... More

GRAND LAKE TOYA HOTEL Pros 1) Good location by the lake. 2) Japanese room (lake facing) was good for viewing fireworks (10 mins) 3) Room had piped-in instrumental music, which was refreshing. Music stopped at 8.45pm when fireworks started. Began at 8am the next morning. 4) Dining lady - pleasant and helpful. Cons 1) Rude Japanese man at Reception -... More

Hotel is situated in the middle of town and just in front of the ferry pier. Between the hotel and Lake Toya is a tour bus parking lot. Therefore, it is a horrible place to stay as instead of a nice quiet room over looking Lake Toya, you get tour bus announcements as well as tour bus engines running ALL... More

Hotel in front of lake and cruise jetty. We stayed 1 nite with good Japanese breakfast and dinner served in a separate room. Indoor and outdoor onsen available. Fun! They set up futon while we had dinner and they kept away the futon while we had our breakfast. So pleasant that the room was always neat. Enjoyed firework at night.

The gentleman who greeted us, briefed and showed us to the room was pleasant and did a great job...what a start to the stay. We had a Japanese styled room for 4 persons (rather sizable and very comfortable) on lowest floor where the bath/onsen was. Same for the dining area. So even though many people had to throng by the... More

I stayed at this hotel for one night during my cycling trip through Japan. It totally served my needs of a hot shower, a good meal and a clean bed for a good rest. The facilities are old but the meals are good. Staff was very friendly.

This hotel is a classic beauty, we stay in a tatami room , the furnitures is antique , there's no shower in the room so you got to take your bath at the onsen . The room is spacious and comfortable , our room faces the lake view , what a lovely sight , the service was good and friendly... More

Although the hotel is quite old ,the facilities are clean.I think I can't say this hotel is absolutely excellent, but the location is good. The hotel is near the firework show.Just a few minutes walk from the shore. We had a see view room which is on the first floor. The rooms on the basement maybe a little noise since the hot... More
