Just back from a family reunion: 30 + of us ranging from 72 years to seven weeks old. Rooms clean and had everything necessary for comfortable night. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Those of us with young children very impressed with £1 meal deal for children eating with adults. No criticisms at all. However do have suggestion: set aside a... More

upon arrival we rang the buzzer at reception and waited a ridiculously long time for a member of staff. The room was an adequate size but was freezing cold and smelled. The bathroom cubicle thing also smelled and had no extractor fan. The TV didn't work properly; it had terrible reception and both picture and sound repeatedly fizzled out. The... More

Well, here's one hotel that I won't be rushing to revisit. What I liked The hotel is close to the A1 What I didn't like My room wasn't particularly clean Room was cold and heating controls were difficult to access Not enough coffee on the hospitality tray Food I had to return my first evening meal as the chicken was... Stayed here for 1 night on 15 Jan to break up a 400 mile journey. Easy & quick access from A1 and back to A1 (southbound). Room was spacious clean and had everything we needed (hairdryer, tea/coffee etc). Free wifi if you sign up to Sky's "the cloud" but I found it slow and temperamental connection. Handy for access to... More

Had one night here en route home and it was enough, to be honest. I had to change rooms as there was a hole in the floor of the first one, covered by carpet...the second was a little better but not great. I couldn't fault the cleanliness, the bedding was fine and the towels nice and fluffy, but the carpets... More

I ended up in the Darrington due to some emergency outside of someone else's control. The detail doesn't matter really but oh my goodness what a dreadful place. Very shabby with no chic. Very poor quality including the dreadful shower room with no heating and grubby floor. Reminded me of working away from home in the early 70's and staying... More

What a shame they've allowed this place to deteriorate. I've stayed here before, great location, just off the A1, the breakfast is good and the staff are very friendly and professional, but that's where the good review ends. I had read that the corridor areas where a bit shabby, and that was an understatement. We found them desperately in need... More

Does what it says on the tin. As per the other reviews hallways need attention however the rooms are clean, warm and comfortable. The traffic noise is not a problem in the rooms and you get the fiver discount if booked via the net. Food next door is typically pub chain microwave cookery spectacular stuff but still fills you up... More
