Stopped here on a very busy May Day bank holiday. Friendly staff. Only had a baguette each so can't comment on the fairly extensive menu. Took a while to arrive but was bank hol and busy. Mine was bacon, Brie and tomato and was delicious. Husband had spicy lamb sausage. Both very good. Lots of dogs in and outside the... More

We decided to get to this pub early as we knew it would be busy lunchtime. So we got there at midday and got greeted by a young girl and we asked her if she had any tables left for lunch. She pointed at one table that apparently was the only table of two left that wasn't reserved, so we... More

My girlfriend and I stopped here after taking our dogs for a walk over the Long Man. Wonderfully cheerful staff behind the bar, great surroundings and a nice warm fire getting started. We decided to stop for lunch and the food is amazing, met the gentleman who owns the place who is also the chef, had the most amazing sausages... More

Visited here twice whilst staying at nearby Wilmington Priory. On the first occasion was for early evening drinks. Two draught ales from the local Longman Brewery, both excellent. There was also a very good local cider on tap too. Very friendly staff. The second visit was for dinner. Extensive menu and some blackboard specials. All dishes we had were perfectly... More

This was the third time staying at the Giant's Rest with a group of friends but i am afraid it will be the last. The two rooms were booked for the four of us several weeks in advance and the cost of both rooms confirmed as £140. Sadly when we arrived the price had gone up by £20 for the... More

Visited with my brother following a few miles walk, nice bright airy pub selling the local brewer, Long Man's ales. 2 on sale, the 4% Best Bitter, and the 4.2% Copper Hop, which we drank, it was in good form and was a very nice deep amber bitter! As we had a packed lunch, we didn't eat here, though the... More

The giants rest is in a lovely location close to the Cuckmere and many lovely walks. We have stayed there many times over the last few years and have recommended it in the past to others. Recently it changed management and the rooms have been updated to a slightly better standard and are very clean and comfortable. Other than that... More

My husband and I stayed here for a one night stop recently. We had the double room which was lovely and spacious enough to have a sofa and 2 chairs as well as the bed etc. There are only 2 rooms and the bathroom is shared. When we stayed we were the only occupants so the bathroom was effectively ours!... More
