I've stayed at the Queen Hotel previously and although our stay was comfortable, there were still things 'missing'. We stayed in the same room as we did last time and the TV remote was still missing. I brought this to the attention of reception who informed me that she had ordered new remotes but they had not arrived yet. I... More

Myself and a few colleagues have stayed at the Queen Hotel for approx. 4 months while working in the locallity.During this period we have not felt the need to have our evening meal anywhere else, the food on offer is always to a very high standard and keenly priced. All members of staff have been very friendly and helpful and made us... Stayed at the hotel for the weekend whilst visiting friends in the village, first time staying in the hotel and it certainly will not be our last. It was my fiancé's birthday so I attempted to arrange to get flowers and champagne in the room for our arrival. Was told that it wasn't something that they really done however the... More

Called in one afternoon for a meal, the food was good,no complaints, but the place lacked atmosphere.I suppose a lot of people who used to come here go to wetherspoons round the corner.I remember years back the queen was always busy. One black mark was that tables were left uncleared after people had eaten. Some of the staff seem to have a couldnt care... Stayed 27/28 Sept, Our room smelt of damp. Also very cold. I was surprised as warmer outside than in. Room on top floor and no heating. I wasn't bothered too much until the morning when really felt it getting into the shower and out again. Freezing getting out! Had outside room so not sure if this made difference compared to... We have stayed here a couple of times while visiting family in the area. The hotel is good value, with decent rooms, free parking and a nice bar. Staff are friendly and breakfast is very good. For the price this is a good honest hotel which I would recommend.

The Queen Hotel - or the Quen Hotel, as one of the 'e's had fallen off in Fawlty Towers tradition - is under new management... but it feels like it's run by people who've had the concept of a hotel described to them, although they've never actually visited one themselves. It's still early days for new manager Mark Price, but... More

Booked for 2 nights, staff very attentive, breakfast fab with local bacon and sausages cooked to order well worth the wait, must mention Matt who sorted a tray for our room. Pillows and quilt could be upgraded to feather to make the beds perfect, house keeping lady was very nice. TV signal poor in our room :-( , needs wifi... More
