We stayed here for one night only in mid July 2014 during our tour of the Cape. We stayed in one of the stables which was beautifully decorated but very cold. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, arranging for us to be driven to see the whales in the hotel's jeep as the dirt tracks to the coast from... More

Thank you for the great review Anette! It does get quite chilly in winter time which is why we provide heaters and warm blankets to make our guests' stays more comfortable. We're glad that you enjoyed seein all the animals and that you got to see the whales. We hope you'll visit again when back in SA. Best Wishes Team... More

This was the second time we stayed in de Hoop. We stayed in the Mountain Zebra cottage and although this is one of the smaller cottages it is still very nice to stay there. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was the most expensive dinner we had during our 2 week stay in SA. The food was OK, but... More

I must say I had no idea where I was going to stay or what the food or rooms would be like. All were amazing. We were on a 3 day art course run by the De Hoop Collection and it was worth every cent. Besides the lovely historical environment of an old cape Dutch type farm , I had... More

Although the cottage was equipped with a wonderful HUGE bed, and percale linen, the tiny, dreary, bathroom/shower let this room down. It is not en-suite, and is shared with occupants if any, from the second bedroom We had to request maintenance to come and fix/replace the shower head, as it was so blocked it was difficult to get wet -... We stayed in a camp rondawel for three nights and really enjoyed it. The view of the vlei is so relaxing and we enjoyed the beach and the rock pools. Overall an amazing stay. The gravel roads would have been more comfortable with a high clearance vehicle though!

Enjoyed our stay thoroughly! The setting was perfect and not too secluded from other guests. The night sky was brilliant and made for fantastic astrophotography! Watch out for baboons and their charging on your food / kids.

My family stayed for two nights in a Vlei cottage at De Hoop Nature Reserve. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and in a very peaceful and remote location. We went on a guided marine walk to the beautiful beach a few miles from the cottages. Unfortunately it started to rain so we didn't get to see the rock... More

We only had two nights in the cottage at De Hoop and could have happily stayed much longer. The rooms were comfy and the kitchen well equipped but you are really there for the location. Stayed in the Blue Crane, an Opstal house in De Hoop. Very peaceful and private with lots of space. Boma with braai is great. It has a table under a milkwood tree. Well appointed houses and very helpful staff combined with a beautiful nature reserve make this a special place to stay.
