My wife and I, spent a short wonderful holiday, in October, at Podere Leccetro. The guesthouse is in the middle of a huge garden, so beautiful that it leaves you speechless. You're in the middle of nature, away from the road and pollution, having a whole forest available for your exploration. The house is cozy, tastefully arranged, and is equipped... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

We stayed in the Millefiori apartment for 5 nights in July 2013. We were in the area for a wedding, so wanted somewhere close to the venue but also a place we could just relax for a few days. Podere Leccetro was ideal. It's tucked away down a quiet road, so there's no noise other than the wildlife around. The... More

I have been at the Podere Leccetro in June 2012 - was looking for a nice and quiet place to write. Must say that it was a good choice, the renovated flat is of an excellent standard and the place is in a woodland area. Only noise is the one from cicadas and sometime the dog of the owners. The... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The farm, situated in a glade circled by woods of holm-oak and chestnut trees, is surrounded by lush, green lawns. Each of the flats can enjoy and make use of garden furniture in an area reserved for eating and relaxing. The external structure of the antique hayloft/stall has not been modified. Inside there are two independent flats: a small one with kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom - and a larger one with a big kitchen/living room with a fireplace, two double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The big flat is principally on the ground floor, it is without barriers and therefore easily accessible for handicapped guests. The two flats can be united, so that it can cater for up to 8 people."Podere Leccetro" is an agricultural business of 18 hectare of woodland, at 400 metres above sea-level, lying on the province border between Siena and Grosseto. The farm is situated between the "Crete Senesi" and the "Colline Metallifere", between the valleys of the rivers Merse and Farma. "Podere Leccetro" produces monoflora-honey, pollen and royal jelly using biological methods. The valleys of the rivers Merse and Farma are famous for their clear water, the un-ending woodland, their mushrooms and their gastronomical specialties, based on game, above all wild boar stew.Long ago this was the land of the charcoal burners and bandits and even before pilgrims crossed our wild area on their "Via Francigena"to Rome.It is possible to organize walking excursions and bicycle tours leading to the Terme di Petriolo with its traces of a Roman settlement and the hot water pool on the banks of the river Farma. You can also visit the Monastery of San Galgano and the ruins of the St. Lucy's Hermitage from the 10th century, to the clear waters of the river Merse, to the little Etruscan museum and the miners´ ancient settlement in Murlo. In half an hour you can reach Siena by car, but also the impressive area of the Crete Senesi and the nearby Abbazia di Monteoliveto, the wine-haven Montalcino, and a bit further away the earlier Popes´ residence Pienza. In an hours drive you reach Monte Amiata, the sandy beaches of the Maremmanian coast near Grosseto or - going north - you can sightsee San Gimignano or Florence. ... more   less
