My husband stayed here in our Escape Campervan in May 2014 and it was wonderful. It is the cutest place with immaculate facilities and everything feels very homey. The owners were friendly and helpful. It's located about 30 seconds from the shores of Lake Manapouri and you can take a walk down the lakefront through the woods which is just... More

Possum Lodge is a hostel, also with facilities for motor homes. The location in woods, very close to the banks of Lake Manapouri is superb. The facilities are basic and in need of care and attention. There are many irritating things that could so easily and cheaply be improved. For example: better lighting to make a night time visit to... More

Stayed here in April, a great wee place, not the Ritz but an excellent camping site on the lake, complete with bird song in the morning. The facilities are a little basic but clean and maintained. Several good walks around the lake start there and you can walk 5 minutes to the ferry for the Doubtful Sound tours, or fishing.

We travelled around NZ for 2 months and this was by far one of our favourite campsites. It's small and family owned. The kitchen is cosy with lots of pots and pans to use. There is a nice lounge with lots of board games available. The bathrooms were very nice and homely (eg nice towels and soap etc). There are... More

We stayed here two nights in a camper van. The campsite is located on the banks of Lake Manapouri. There's a beautiful path that leads directly to Pearl Harbour where most tours to Doubtful Sound depart from (5-10 min walk). The camp site is quite small, so I'd suggest to book in advance in summer. Facilities are a tad old,... More

We stayed at Possums Lodge in September 2013. Now we understand that this is winter time in New Zealand, but we really didn't expect our "motel room" to be quite so freezing. We had all the heating on and the electric blanket but still had to go to bed fully clothed. We even had the bathroom fan heater on and... More

Sorry to hear you had a cold night. We find a lot of our overseas visitors feel the cold more we do , we are only too happy to give out additional heating if required. More

Allowing people to start pitching their tent at 10.30pm is just a little ridiculous. The owners need to consider a last check in time. We were all set to settle down for the night when our neighbours arrived and started setting up tent. 90 minutes later their child started calling loudly "Mummy". This carried on until 2.45am when they were rudely... More

The view of the lake is out of this whole for this small and funky holiday park. We parked our rv there and had a great time. The cooking area is small but has everything u need and the bathrooms were close by. The couple who owns the place were nice and fat kitty is your welcome wagon. Free wifi... More

We camper vanned around the whole south island and this was by far the best holiday park! The location was perfect, in the morning you will wake up to the songs of the New Zealand song birds, which was absolutely incredible. The boat dock for the Doubtful Sound cruise is a beautiful 5 minute walk from the campsite, it's in... More

We rented an 'ensuite' cabin here, which turned out to be a little house with living area, real kitchen with stove, refrigerator and cooking equiipment, bedroom, and bathroom with shower. The decor was old-fashioned, but basically clean and comfortable. It was quiet here and near a couple of nice trails to walk along the lake. There were a couple of... More
