The Fish Inn - Excellent place to stay. Clean, Quiet, Good Food and plenty of refreshing Beer. The Staff are very helpful and all in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District. What more could you want?

We stayed here for one night recently. As it was out of season we were the only guests staying. Even so the staff (I think the are all family) couldn't do enough for us. They were helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. The rooms looked like they had recently been decorated, were warm and extremely comfortable. The bar was... More

Nice little inn at the end of a lovely, if not cold, family walk around Buttermere lake. Good selection of real ales and good quality food that didn't scrimp on the portion size! Definitely worth a visit and although we didn't stay the night we might in the future!

I stayed here for a short weekend to hike. After a long drive I was pleased to arrive and was met by a lovely lady and made to feel very welcome. My room (twin) was spotlessly clean and tidy - really couldn't fault it but it was a bit dark. However, the view from the window was lovely - straight... More

We had walked round the far side of the lake and were ready for a hot drink. Although the signs indicated that the inn was open for refreshments, the side door was locked and a film crew were busy setting up equipment outside. The main entrance was not intended for use by walkers but we took the liberty of using... More

This pub has an excellent setting between Buttermere and Crummock Water, with both fell and lakeside walks easily accessible. There is ample parking in the grounds or to the side there is a pay and display car park. I visited the pub after a day on the fells with a friend. Excellent choice of ales and good service. As is... Unlike "unbelievably rude" we parked in the pay and display car park. We had a lovely lunch in the Fish Inn (they stop serving at 2.00). Then after lunch we enjoyed a wonderful walk around the lake. Back to lunch, portions are huge but quality was excellent. The range of beers was great, too. We would definitely ho back.

october 3rd 2014 a group of 40 somethings pulled into the car park planning a walk to haystacks with the idea of then having a drink and food afterwards here there were around 4 car loads of us. The proprietor came out and said "am I missing something here?". I spoke with him and said that we were parking here... More

Been going here for years. On our latest visit we had great Turkey sandwiches and a big pot of tea. Couldn't fault it. Very popular place too, staff nice and a lovely ambience. They also do a fantastic Ploughmans that I'm looking forward too next time. Great pub!
