We stayed at the Fish last week having completed a long day's walk.Shortly after arriving my wife fell ill,due to the effects of the walk.I cannot speak too highly of the support and care we received. If the measure of a place is how they look after you when you need it then they score at the top. Everything else,food... More

A lovely hotel just a short stroll to beautiful buttermere lake which is an easy 4 mile walk. Room was very clean, comfortable & spacious with everything you require. View from our room was wonderful. Breakfast/evening meal was really nice. Do not have a bad word to say & can't wait to stay again.

4 nights at this place should be plenty of time to find fault. But try as I might, there really was nothing to criticise. Big comfortable room. Hearty and hot 'made to order' English breakfast, with all combinations readily available, all presided over by the amazing Angela, who had the perfect balance bwtween efficiency and friendliness and the most amazing... Just back from a 4 day break at the Fish Inn. I would like to say that we had a very pleasant time there, the staff were ever so friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and warm with a good view out towards Buttermere lake, we couldn't ask for anything more. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with a... More

This pub serves excellent lunches. The menu is excellent, the portions generous and the food well cooked and tasty. There is a good atmosphere and, being in the middle of walking country, there is no ban on walking boots being worn. It was warm and comfortable - a very pleasant, restful experience.

Went into this pub after a long walk around the lake. They gave decent portions and it is not badly priced, well worth a visit. Within the group we had beef burger and jacket potatoes and nobody went home hungry.

We went out for Sunday lunch thinking that most pubs would have a roast on, well not this pub, this was the first disappoint! So we ordered from the menu, we discover nothing came with veg but every dish was with salad! Pie and salad?? Really!!! So I ordered half a roast chicken in the hope of salvaging my hope... More

The Fish Inn - Excellent place to stay. Clean, Quiet, Good Food and plenty of refreshing Beer. The Staff are very helpful and all in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District. What more could you want?

We stayed here for one night recently. As it was out of season we were the only guests staying. Even so the staff (I think the are all family) couldn't do enough for us. They were helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. The rooms looked like they had recently been decorated, were warm and extremely comfortable. The bar was... More
