Had a very good stay at the property, which has a sprawling lawn and heritage rooms spread around it. Being located slightly away from the main road, it is very quiet and populated with peacocks, squirrels and chirping birds. The menu was rich and varied, with good preparations on all days.

Deo Bagh was a haven of peace in the middle of Gwalior. All on its own, with all the seclusion you could need on a romantic trip (pity that I was on a work trip, but it was with a friend so still, hifives all around!) The ambience, facilities in the room, the decor, is all lovely. The food is... More

A pleasant five hour drive from Delhi, Deobagh is unqiue place. The hotel itself is beautiful - lovely rooms that open out onto the gardens each with private courtyards. Gorgeous lawns. But the real gem is the setting - the grounds are large and like a lush green forest with intricately carved cenotaphs in the midst. Reminds you of Angokwat.... More

Deo bagh with its beautiful garden and peacocks roaming around is an excellent place to take some rest from busier and bigger cities in India. Staff is very kind and helpful. Food served at the restaurant is also very tasty with a little touch of western style.

Gwalior has a rich and beautiful historical heritage but it's a noisy, busy and tiring city also. Deo Bagh, with its huge garden, is a small oasis of peace even though it is quite centrally located. As in most hotels of this chain, the staff is excellent (special mention to the general manager, extremely helpful), meals are a nice blend... More

This hotel was nice and peaceful in an often crowded india, but my wife was told there would be internet and there was not even a router to connect to. The room was beautiful and the food and staff were good. It would have been a 5 if it had internet available. There were also some friendly frogs that hopped... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review about the Deo Bagh heritage hotel in Gwalior. The internet problem existed until April, after which it was resolved and now the wi-fi works well at the hotel. Also, the frogs come in due to the wet grass. However, pest control is now in place to ensure that such insects do not come... More

We went to stay but found we are alone in that huge palace like structure, feeling little scary & funny. The adress is very difficult to find and the hotel is well inside the property making it scooopy.

Stayed here in August 2013 with a colleague. Was a short trip, but the staff made sure it was comfortable. The place has a wonderful old-world feel, and is quiet and peaceful since it's away from the city. Transport was arranged at short notice, all the staff were warm and friendly, the food was good too.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Awaken history in a Char-bagh where Mughal emperors once camped ! History has it that in the late 1500 AD important Mughals camped in this “char bagh” with a stunning chhattis-dari (36-pillared pavilion) at its heart. This shielded the women in its underground chamber during the summer. Later, as the conquering Maratha army marched towards Delhi, the Jadhavs took possession of this natural water catchment area. Sardar Deorao Bhausaheb Jadhav and his son Sardar Krishnarao Deorao Jadhav used this 'bagh' as a summer house with the ladies’ section in Deo Bagh and the mens’ section in Jai Vihar, the family's current home. The garden complex houses the most exquisite family temples, a ‘hathi khana’ for elephants, stables and cenotaphs. Important Gwalior State meetings, especially against the British – when the valiant Rani of Jhansi fought from the fort rampart close by, were held here during that time. After India’s independence, this has been the home of Sardar Deorao Krishnarao Jadhav, his son Sardar Dhananjayrao Deorao Jadhav and his wife the Ranisaheba, since 1954 when they left their ancestral Lakshmi Vilas Rajwada. ... more   less
