We stayed on a Sunday night. It is right on the main town square with lots of restaurants nearby, but there was no obtrusive traffic or other noise when we stayed. Never had we been so pleased with a town and hotel as at the Romantik Hotel Säntis in Appenzell. Hotel Santis is an excellent base for exploring a beautiful little area of Switzerland lots of people miss. Swiss hospitality at its best. Arrived late, after restaurant and room service closed, but hearing that I hadn't had dinner, they arranged to send up a plate of meats, cheeses and bread. Room was lovely. more

This was the second time in two years that we have stayed at this wonderful hotel. We love everything about it...rooms, dining room, breakfast, dinner, Appenzell itself........everything! The owner even recognized us when we walked in as the folks who came for one night in 2006 and stayed four instead! more

This hotel was highly rated by several overall travel guides so my husband and I were anxious to stay there. We had been in Appenzell many times before but never stayed in the Romantik Santis. We loved the restaurant so this time, we made a reservation to stay at the hotel. I specifically requested a "quiet" room in my reservation... more

We have stayed at this hotel twice and have found none better in Europe. The hotel is right on the square of the beautiful little town with lots of shops. If you can afford it...get the suite. We drove here from Frankfort and there is plenty of free parking in the square next to the hotel. The staff was also... more

We found the hotel just perfect for Appenzell. Perfectly decorated indoor and out, perfect warm Swiss welcome, friendly bartender for a late night Appenzeller schnapps. Because of the small town we arrived armed with a German/English dictionary and developing "charades" skills. At Romantik Hotel Santis we needed neither.
