Please, this hotel is not representative of the cuisine and hospitality that Norway has to offer. Yes it is situated in a wonderful spot, but the owners seem more committed to making money than offering hospitality. It caters to tour buses. Do not get the highly overpriced dinner buffet. I would suggest ordering off the menu instead. There are many... More

We spent two nights at Brakanes and were lucky enough to enjoy wonderful warm clear days which made for a very enjoyable stay. The hotel has a wonderful location, right on the edge of a fjord in a relaxed picturesque village, with beautiful views all around, so it is a case of mixed emotions when you walk-in to your fjord... Great place! Loved the food. The service was GREAT in the restaurant, and above average at the front desk. Polite and smiling staff. Our room was worn down, but had new furniture and was really clean. I'd love to come back next summer!

We were not with a bus tour or a cruise ship. We were individual travelers who needed and reserved three rooms. At check-in, they told us they upgraded us to "a room with a view." What a view it was! Out of our balcony, we saw fjords for three days. The receptionist were friendly; although they had little knowledge about... More

Many others have reviewed this hotel with much the same thoughts as mine. The hotel is dated and in need of updating but in saying this we totally enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a great location overlooking the fjord and the rooms take full advantage of the view, which leads to a relaxing time. Both buffet dinner and breakfast... More

As has been said this hotel has terrific fjord views. The hotel caters for a lot of one night stay tour groups and so although the buffet food is good it does become a bit same-ish if you stay several days. The staff are very friendly and helpful and from my experience the rooms are good and cleaned everyday. There... More

The one thing I would imagine everyone can agree upon about the hotel is that the view at the front is stunning. The fjord is unbelievably beautiful, almost surreal. The hotel itself, though, is such a waste of a wonderful location. It is massively outdated, with peeling paint, scruffy carpets and grimy bathrooms. The "pool" is tiny, with browning tiles,... More

Everything they say about the views here being great is true - we had an amazing view of the Hardanger Fjord from our "suite" on the 5th floor. That being said, this place is a little strange. The building is definitely showing its age and feels distinctly past its prime. The suite was pretty cramped and the shower had a... More

This hotel could be so much more! It's a beautiful old building in picture perfect surroundings featuring deep fjords, green pastured hillsides and snowcapped mountains. Unfortunately the hotel and property itself is completely outdated and looks as if it hasn't been refurbished since WW2. Paint is peeling of the walls, and the state of the hotel is generally in shambles,... More
