5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013 NEW

We had only one night here as a side trip from an inclusive tour and absolutely loved this property. The tented chalet was huge with even airconditioning. Our chalet was beside a lovely shady tree, so for the short time available between 'events' we spent relaxing on our verandah watching the wildlife performing. We had considered a swim, but found... You'll either love it or hate it, this is what the lonely planet said. We were greeted with some cold juice and cold towels which was really nice touch given the temperatures outside! We thought the room was ok, basic and clean and rather quirky/ odd in design. The dinner was excellent, sitting outside under the stars with an abundant... More

The accommodation was very nice - in tented chalets with a very spacious bathroom, and little kitchenette off the verandah. One can "hire" a kitchen box, with all the essential requirements, which we did and braaied on our first night there. Unluckily for us, that night the east wind came up and we thought the tent was going to be... More

Sometimes traveling in exotic reaches such as this, what one really wants is a place where any surprises are pleasant surprises. I liked this place a lot. It was clean. Nothing was broken. Their wake up knocks were dependable. Lighting was adequate and dependable.Nothing got messed up. The hot water worked. The A/C worked. The electric outlets worked (don't laugh. I... More

An unbeatable location in the Desert. Just outside the Park entrance with a Gas Station and shop next door. Comfortable and spotless chalets.Cool drinks overlooking the water hole.Evening dining and BBQ under the stars. Food delicious. Staff helpful. Only small drawback was the very small swimming pool with a few hard chairs and very little shade. We enjoyed our stay.

Sublime accommodation in the desert. Having an air conditioning in a tent is somewhat of an extreme luxury. Dinner was perfect, so was breakfast and lunch. One could stay for a few days here. We enjoyed ourselves and wish we could have stayed for two nights, unfortunately they only had one night available and we were booked in their other... More

Paying twice as usual, sleeping in a thing that´s half a bungalow (entrance/bathroom) and half a tent (sleeping room), and diner times shortened by the personel, that closes 1 hour early. Lots of things to do (for extra money - not like at Ai-Ais...)

Dear Frank, Thank you for your feedback. We do advertise extensively that we offer an accommodation unit with the bedroom under canvas and adobe-style walls to give the visitor a distinctive sense of being close to nature – Understandably this is not for everybody. Best wishes and safe travels! The Sossusvlei Lodge Team More

I don't know how they did it, but far from the nearest center, they have created a wonderful lodge deep in the Namib desert. The units are tents, built on to a concrete struture, air conditioned, and attached to the bathroom. The food is good, and the drinks are cold. Everything is here right next to the incredible dunes of... More

Firstly, Be aware this place is outside the park gates so you will not be able to enter the park and view the sunset and sun rise in the park. There is a rule that they open the park at Sunrise and close at sunset. The sossusvlei is 70kms from the lodge. If you want to see the sunset and... More
