Perfectly good room with a double bed, a single and a sofa bed. Only gripe was that there was no soap in the bathroom and the net curtain was filthy. The breakfast was good , combining a cold and cooked to order option . Perhaps a veggie sausage option could be added to the list of options. The manager/owner was... More

The building itself was beautiful, and perfectly situated in Chard, not far from more expensive hotels in Lyme Regis. There's plenty of parking space, but the garden area is run down. The owner welcomed us and was very friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size, although bathroom felt it needed freshening up, as did the main stairwell. The... More

We used Chard as a base for our adventures round the jurrasic coast. Great guest house, nice big rooms, very quiet. Room could have done with a bit of a spring clean as the shower was a little grotty and the curtains were a bit dusty but the bedding was fresh and clean as were the towels. Breakfast was lovely... I needed someone to stay over for one night and this hotel met my budget with breakfast included. I was very impressed with the airy reception hallway, ease of on-site parking, and the welcome from the owner, who showed me straight to my room and was very polite and courteous. The room was absolutely lovely, and so was the breakfast... More

Charming and excellent value for money. Conveniently situated in the centre of Chard with private parking. Single room with a comfortable double bed and coffee/tea making facilities. The bathroom was small but well appointed and the shower worked well. The breakfast was wonderful! I wish I could have stayed longer; I'm sure it is a great base for exploring the... More

It would have been easy to give this one night stay a very harsh review. First impressions were'nt good. The car park backs on to what should be a secluded garden, but is actually an unkempt tangle of weeds and overgrown garden waste heaps. Things didn't improve when we arrived at our room. Small, oddly shaped and on the ground... More

We stayed here one night and really enjoyed our stay. The host was very friendly and able to tell us all about the history of the building (built 1729!). A very large room with a couch and en suite which made it feel like home. With the room rate including a cooked breakfast it was great value for money. Highly... More

We stayed at Bellplot House to break our journey down to Newquay. The welcome was friendly and the room was really lovely, and we felt great value for money. The breakfast was delicious and our fifteen month old daughter was made very welcome. We had dinner at the Bath House Hotel (as recommended by the proprietor of Bellplot House) and... More

We were visting the Southwest to take a trip to River Cottage and came across the Bellplot in Chard. Having never visited this part of the country before were unsure where to stay. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and advised of some local attractions to go and visit on the Friday evening. The hotel is clean and well kept.... More

We stayed at Bellplot house when visiting River Cottage. It is about 20 minutes away and is a nice old house. The rooms was small but nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast was very good and used local, good quality produce (except the baked beans, try Branston, they are much nicer!). Chard itself is limited although we had a nice meal... More
