I'm planning our third visit next month. I love Likoma and want to see it all. Ulisa Bay Lodge is the perfect base. It is beautiful and comfortable as said by other reviewers. I too think the location and atmosphere is quite unique. Seeing my daughters playing on the beach with the village kids filled me with joy. They were... More

We spent 4 nights at Ulisa Bay Lodge and would both describe it as one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Malawi. We were upgraded to the Eco-chalet which was spacious and comfortable with a veranda overlooking the local beach and fishing village. This provided the perfect location for reading and watching village life and spectacular sunsets. We... More

My friend's and I stayed there over the Easter weekend. We had the deluxe room. It was great, the room was clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner is very helpful, too. We had to order food in advance because it takes a while to be prepared but that wasn't a problem. The beach is beautiful... More

We stayed at Ulisa over a long weekend and found it to be lovely. We chose Ulisa over Mango Drift after we were told that Mango Drift was having some issues with upkeep (seemingly confirmed in some of their recent reviews) and were slow to respond to inquiries (definitely true). Chris, the manager, was very responsive, very helpful, and very... More

Excellent place to relax; swim; snorkell; hike or sit around and read. Spent 5 nights enjoying a very beautiful setting; Chris the owner/manager has done an excellent job with the design integrity of the chalets; bonus points for the very good the eco loo toilets. Food choices and quality good. The island itself is quite rocky although beach access is... More

Delightful bungalows right on the beach so 2 steps to the beach and 3 more into the lake Very friendly service and some delicious food , if at times a bit slow to arrive but time is no object here! Enjoyable and interesting walk to town but a bit far for some Met some lovely children and taught them beach... More

Likoma Island isn't a place / island where you can do a lot. You've seen the island very soon. Ulisa bay lodge isn't that big, but i liked being there, a lot of relaxing with a beautiful view, especially the sunsets! You can walk to town, which is good, cause a taxi is very expensive (there aren't many cars and... More

This charming young lady arrived at the bar at Ulisa Bay Lodge at about midday asking for lunch. The staff welcomed her and showed her the menu. She chose an omelette and was advised that unfortunately the eggs had finished at breakfast but more were being bought in town but may not be at the lodge for an hour or... More

I have just come back from two weeks in Malawi, having stayed at the Nkhotakota Pottery Lodge in a beautiful beach front chalet, we decided to move on to their lodge on Likoma Island. A trip on the Ilala is a must on the way there, disembarking via the life boats is an adventure of it's own. On the way... More

A really great retreat. Outstanding location on the lake, fantastic diving and very good value for money. If you want to escape from it all, relax and unwind then this is the place for you. A visit to the Cathedral is a must.

I spent two months in Malawi teaching and traveling around. I had a series of misfortune events before and needed a last rest before I traveled onwards. I heard Likoma island and it's beauty so I booked on trip advisor blindly and hoped for the best. I traveled with the Ilala from Nkhata bay and spent one night at Mango... More
