This place was a great way to spend our honeymoon. It's rustic but perfectly comfortable. The owners, Antonella and Ricardo, were warm and friendly, although their English is a bit limited. They have a beautiful property up in the hills above Florence, very close to the Chianti Rufina wine producing region. Fattoria Il Poeta is a self sustaining agriturismo paradise. They have chickens, geese, turkeys, horses, ponies, a donkey, 3 dogs, and about 20 cats. They offer to cook breakfast and dinner upon request, or you can cook for yourself in your fully furnished apartment. We ate with them one night, and Ricardo caught a wild boar with his bare hands and made us fresh pork chops! He's actually a wonderful cook, and they serve home-made wine, grappa, and nochello (a sweet nut based apertiff). Also, the home-made olive oil was amazing! We would definitely consider staying here again, although the drive up the hill is a bit scary at first. more
