The Auberge, run by husband and wife Ben and Teresa, was an amazing place. A restored 14th century barn with three large bedrooms, all ensuite, and some of the most amazing views of the surrounding fields, forest and adjacent chateaux. The food, walking, bird watching, wine tasting and other activities (we cycled and canoed) in the area were excellent. The hosts (English and Peruvian) knew the area well and the locals who often visited them to drop off food which was amazing prepared for us on request (the night before). The rooms were tastefully decorated, always clear and the linens (something I am fussy about in B and B's) were hotel quality. It was one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever had. The area is beautiful. Definitely an affordable, tasty and refreshing break! more
