As the hotel is in the park itself it's the place to stay. If you're driving, you can drive down to the jetty area to offload your cases rather than having to carry them down the steps..not easy in the heat! The boat will take you across to the hotel and park for one ringgit pp. Food at the hotel... More

When travelling to Taman Negara with a small child, you don't have a lot of options beside this very luxurious resort inside the national park. Very spacious chalets with a lot of comfort, but check the special offers online before you arrive. The staff is friendly but not very straightforward. Special thanks for the manager who helped us out with... More

The place was awesome. We had great fun. Away from the city for two night gave us a breath of fresh air. We rented the bungalow and it was amazing. The food was expensive, but you can always cross the river to get cheaper food.

We spent 2 nights in the hotel with a friend couple. Both chalets were really nice, clean and authentic. Breakfast was correct. Staff people were available for organizing trips in the jungle (keep in mind that they want to sell you everything since this is also a part of their business). Prices are more expensive to have a drink or... More

The setting of the Mutiara Resort is unique as it abuts the ancient forest of the Taman Negara National Park. It was delightful every morning for the four nights of our stay to watch and listen to the rainforest waking up while sitting on the veranda of our elegant wooden chalet. (We asked to be as far as possible from... More

This was my third time in Taman Negara but my first stay in this resort. During the peak period, this resort is definitely overpriced. We went just before that period and got much a lower rate. The chalet is spacious and comfortable, and the staff were courteous and friendly. It's as close as one can get to the national park.... More

We are a family of 4 (two daughters aged 3 and 7) and just returned from a family trip to the rain forest where we spent 3 nights at the Mutiara Teman Negara. We had originally booked 4 nights, but after reading some the reviews we changed to 3 nights for fear we would get tired of it (3 was... More

What an enjoyable surprise after a few hours by longtail boat! Situated in the jungle, the hotel chalets are very nice and comfortable. Each with its own porch. Breakfast is nice and complete with a big tapir visiting in front of the restaurant. During the stay here, the Canopy Walk is absolutely a 'must-do'! We stayed for two nights and... More

Given where the hotel is located, you have to give them credit. It's across a river in the jungle of Taman Negara. Literally at the entrance of it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Service and food were very poor which is unfortunate given the rating of the hotel. We booked a double/queen chalet and when we arrived were given... More

The rain forest is amazing. We escaped from Teresek View after one night and stayed here for one night - what a huge difference. My advice is pay the extra and stay here to have a wonderful experience in the rain forest. No truer is the old adage of "getting what you pay for" than in Kuala Tahan.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, PahangDiscover the wonders of an ancient forest at Mutiara Taman Negara. Pitch tent or check-into this forest reserve and bask in the natural surroundings of the Taman Negara park. Mutiara Taman Negara, an eco-tourism Resort that offers a variety of accommodation types promises guests this unique experience with basic amenities and sufficient modern comforts. A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest, thanks to its protected status. With minimal damage to this special ecosystem, Mutiara Taman Negara is dimly lit to avoid scaring off wildlife and conserves energy. Everything used is biodegradable and all the wooden chalet interiors are made of natural produce. Guests at Mutiara Taman Negara will wake to the drone of cicadas, the chirping of bird species new to them and a myriad of other unfamiliar sounds that form a consistent cacophony unique to rainforests. You will begin their adventure at your door step or veranda which makes a perfect perch especially for nocturnal sightings. Sighting wildlife outside the chalet is a norm and the fruit season attracts the most number of wildlife, from the mischievous long tailed macaques, the beautiful chestnut-breasted malkoha and the thorny porcupine to the gentle slow loris. The ancient life forms that blanket Taman Negara are impressive and during each visit, Mutiara Taman Negara gives its visitors the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country. If you are not travelling with a group, you can plan your trip to Mutiara Taman Negara well before you arrive or enlist the help of guides at the Park Centre. Things to do at Mutiara Taman Negara include river cruises, guided walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming by waterfalls and night safaris. The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here and if lucky, you can sight some curious animals. The only people who are allowed to hunt and forage are its original inhabitants, the Orang Asli people who still live a nomadic lifestyle. They farm, fish and hunt in the park and nowadays play host to curious visitors armed with flashy cameras. The women may shy away but the men folk can put on a show with some advance notice. Travelling to Mutiara Taman Negara, guests can either do the four hour scenic drive down or board a coach from a designated location in Kuala Lumpur for a 3 hour drive down followed by a 3 hour boat trip down river ... more   less
