Pretty expensive, but worth the money. Loved the fact that we didn't have to carry our luggage up the stairs and through the park! Apart from that, we booked some tours at the hotel and they provided us with a private guide for 2 days, who showed us around the jungle and accompanied us on our boat trip, which was... More

I travelled with my partner, we are both late 20's and had booked to stay in a standard challet. The resort is very nice, well kept and very clean. The accomodation itself is not exactly 5 star, however the bathroom is very clean and modern and the main room is what I expected and to be honest wanted when staying... More

The Taman Negara Experience was great. The drive, the boat rides , the trails, swimming in the cascades. The stay at Mutiara Taman Negara Resort not so. Pictures online of the chalet suite are a far cry from the actual room. Unemphatic reception staff , an incomplete first aid kit ( as admitted by the staff themselves . We found... More

we transfered to the hotel via jetty as that is the only way...a really good experience. we were then welcomed by extremely nice staff even met by the manager. we went into our rooms which all seemed fine..we were given rooms 11 and 13. the rooms were a little dusty and cleaning could be improved. also in room 11 there... I recently spent three nights at MTN and thoroughly enjoyed myself. My cabin was very comfortable; the restaurant was good (lunches better than buffet breakfast and dinner); and the surroundings enchanting.

We stayed at another accommodation but went over to Mutiara for the buffet dinner one night and were thoroughly disappointed. It cost RM50 (approximately 10 times the cost of a plate of local food across the river) and described as "the perfect place to sample Asian and Western cuisine". There were many canned/bottled items for starters such as olives, capers,... More

Mutiara was a bit of a disappointment for us during our trip to Malaysia. Not because it is bad, but because it simply did not meet the level of quality we had experienced at other hotels/resorts during our trip. For context, the others were all 4/5 star hotels. Mutiara was rated as the same, but simply does not live up... More

Surprisingly the staffs here were very friendly for a Malaysian Hotel. I am a Malaysian so i am used to better treatments in Thailand and Indonesia. This hotel is the only one on the Park side so you dont have to cross the river. However all the local restaurants are on the opposite side. But you can easily get across... More

Incredible location right by the park entrance, with well-appointed rooms, restaurant and gardens. A little overpriced if you just consider the room, but take into account that this is a special property in a unique location. If you want to save some money, eat at the floating restaurants across the river. It only costs RM1 per person to get the... More

First of all sorry for my poor english....The room has air conditioner, television with some nice channel such as Fox Movies, Discovery channel and so forth, also it's very clean. The workers are really helpful and friendly..The location is very nice which is located in the middle of the forest. Besides if you are lucky, you might see wild animals... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, PahangDiscover the wonders of an ancient forest at Mutiara Taman Negara. Pitch tent or check-into this forest reserve and bask in the natural surroundings of the Taman Negara park. Mutiara Taman Negara, an eco-tourism Resort that offers a variety of accommodation types promises guests this unique experience with basic amenities and sufficient modern comforts. A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest, thanks to its protected status. With minimal damage to this special ecosystem, Mutiara Taman Negara is dimly lit to avoid scaring off wildlife and conserves energy. Everything used is biodegradable and all the wooden chalet interiors are made of natural produce. Guests at Mutiara Taman Negara will wake to the drone of cicadas, the chirping of bird species new to them and a myriad of other unfamiliar sounds that form a consistent cacophony unique to rainforests. You will begin their adventure at your door step or veranda which makes a perfect perch especially for nocturnal sightings. Sighting wildlife outside the chalet is a norm and the fruit season attracts the most number of wildlife, from the mischievous long tailed macaques, the beautiful chestnut-breasted malkoha and the thorny porcupine to the gentle slow loris. The ancient life forms that blanket Taman Negara are impressive and during each visit, Mutiara Taman Negara gives its visitors the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country. If you are not travelling with a group, you can plan your trip to Mutiara Taman Negara well before you arrive or enlist the help of guides at the Park Centre. Things to do at Mutiara Taman Negara include river cruises, guided walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming by waterfalls and night safaris. The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here and if lucky, you can sight some curious animals. The only people who are allowed to hunt and forage are its original inhabitants, the Orang Asli people who still live a nomadic lifestyle. They farm, fish and hunt in the park and nowadays play host to curious visitors armed with flashy cameras. The women may shy away but the men folk can put on a show with some advance notice. Travelling to Mutiara Taman Negara, guests can either do the four hour scenic drive down or board a coach from a designated location in Kuala Lumpur for a 3 hour drive down followed by a 3 hour boat trip down river ... more   less
