If you like or have dogs don't stay here. It is very dog and dog owner unfriendly. I was fishing nearby and chose to stay here. I was hoping for a nice, peaceful and enjoyable holiday. Sadly it was not. Being a country hotel I expected it to be relaxed and dog friendly. It was nothing of the kind and... more

Recommend room 7 - a delightful spacious airy room. We had our daughter with us so we had a camp bed in the room but there was still plenty of room. Molton Brown in the bathroom always a good sign and the comfiest bed ever !! We relaxed with the menu in front of the fire before being taken through... more

I specifically booked into the Wheatsheaf because it claims on it's web site to be wheelchair accessible. This may be the case if you have an 18 inch wide wheelchair that can climb steps. The furniture in every room you have to use, including the "accessible" bedroom, would need to be totally rearranged just to allow you to enter. Although... more

We stayed in a lovely room and the staff were friendly. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. The only fault was that there wasnt many staying in the hotel, and it lacked atmosphere. It was my birthday and I personally found it a bit quiet. The village isnt very big,,it didnt seem to be frequented on this occasion anyway by many of the locals.In... more

This was our 4th stay at the Wheatsheaf over the last 3 years and there is always a worry that standards will change over time Whilst some of the staff seemed different, the place otherwise was very much as we remembered it We always find it strange on a one night stay to be asked if we are dining that... more

We stayed at this hotel on our way to Edinburgh to celebrate New Year. From the minute we entered, the staff could not do enough for us. It is one of those places that you feel comfortable and at home straight away. We sat in front of the open fire and browsed the menu for the restaurant whilst enjoying a... more

This is a very pleasant little restaurant with rooms on a fairly busy road in a small, quiet village. We stayed in Jasmine Cottage, which the hotel lets for the owners, a few doors away. The cottage has recently been refurbished to a very nice standard. We're fans of Bruern in the Cotswolds, so were comparing this with some of... more

Situated on the main A6112 road of quiet village, an excellent hotel in which to celebrate that special occasion. 2AA Rosettes breakfast menu too! As the hotel name suggests, the focus is on the à la carte restaurant rather than holidaying guests, although tourist leaflets are readily available. Small off-road car parking area more

The food is very much above average. The only complaint was stir fried veg in soya sauce which did not compliment the dishes we chose. However full marks to the staff as we got plain veg within a few minutes. The breakfasts were good - I can recommend the meusli with fresh fruit. We had booked over the internet at... more

We stayed one night at the annexe of The Wheatsheaf on our first ever visit to Scotland. The en-suite room was of a very high standard and spotlessly clean and fresh. The choice and quality of the breakfast was exceptional and the staff very pleasant and accomodating. We would thoroughly recommend staying here, and hope to do so again on... more
