At first glance the outside of this hotel does look strange. We had travelled in to Albert to search for Hotel de la Basilique (first hotel in Albert listed by Trip Advisor) only to discover it was closed on Mondays. So we travelled back out of Albert towards the strange-looking hotel. So pleased we did. On entering the hotel I... More

Looks very weird from outside, but we were surprised by the friendly staff, comfortable room and good restaurant. Many tourists doing the same as us, visiting the tragic battlefields and, in our case, one special war cemetery where a relative was buried in 1916. Albert isn't a very exciting town, but was far quieter to stay in than Amiens.

Called in on the off chance having been let down by the standard and sight of the chateau we had booked during the week of the Somme ceremonies. To my surprise and much relief they had a vacancy which Deborah on reception volunteered to show me. To be frank after what we had experienced earlier I think I would have... More

Stayed overnight as a stop over to Germany, from the outside the hotel looks like something out of Beirut, inside its a different story. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar is well stocked with a good selection of wine and beer, we where planning on eating out, but ate at the hotel, food was excellent. Breakfast next morning... More

Very clean and well presented. The only down side was that I specifically chose twin beds as we were a group of motorcyclists on our way back from Italy. The rooms had one double bed and one sofa type bed so be aware if you book twin bedded rooms.

We were four blokes on motorcycles visiting the Somme battlefields. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly lady receptionist, who immediately provided our group with helpful information and guides for the battlefields. We were also allowed to park up under a shelter at the side of the hotel ,which although not secure, did provide some shelter from the elements... More

Really excellent staff, rooms variable quality. I shared a room with my sister, recently refurbished, excellent, but my father's room was rather tired and a little small. That being said, they were so helpful, good breakfast and a great location for the Somme Battlefields. I do recommend Olivier Dirson from Chemins d'histoire for a personal tour, he is really very... I would like to meet whoever designed and built this building and try to understand what he thought he was trying achieve, did he know he was in Northern France? That aside it is perfectly fine. Some of the rooms have been refurbished, they are good, some are a bit tired. Huge restaurant with a good menu and perfectly good... More

We stayed here like so many to tour the battle fields round about. The check in was quick and welcoming with quirky key fobs - cuddly owls. The room was small but clean and there was a good bath and separate toilet - handy for three people. The people running the establishment were very helpful, we asked for extra towels... More

Having previously stayed in a Best Western hotel near Newmarket that can only be described as the "worst western" we were a bit apprehensive staying at another, however we were pleasantly surprised. This hotel was very clean, the rooms were comfortable, the service was helpful and friendly. We stayed one night and were in a party of 6, after a... More
