Bijagua is located about 9 km from Rio Celeste Volcan Tenorio Park. For the traveller who has no car, I recommend you stay at Rio Celeste Backpackers lodge. The Bed and Breakfast style cabania is maintained by a super friendly and helpful guy named Jorge. He speaks good Spanglish. It is a family owned BnB style, and his wife and... More

Close to bus stop, comfortable and safe. Real hostel experience, Jorge was awesome, brought us into town and to run errands. Was fair and made us feel very welcoming. To the people I saw who brought 11 people to the hostel, I would assume that your 'poor' service was due to the fact that this is not a hotel, and... More

We felt like we were off the beaten path a bit staying here. We were able to camp under a covered area for a very reasonable price. Jorge was very helpful with tips and suggestions. Without a car we were able to hitch a ride to and from Rio Celeste, which is about 9km away in Tenorio National Park. There... More

Jorge made us feel at home. The accommodations are clean and very nice. The location is good. You can do day trips to the Rio Celeste waterfall and to the mud baths from here. The yard is nice with it's own frog pond. We could hang out on the deck in a hammock and watch the many colourful birds that... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Rio Celeste Backpackers hostel for 2 nights. It was the one of the most laid back relaxing places we stayed at in Costa Rica. Jorge and his family were so welcoming and helpful. I felt as if I was at my own house. Nice kitchen to cook food in. A great location near... More

I have one basic rule when reading reviews. Ignore the best and the worst. We found Rio Celeste Hostel by accident and planned to stay for one night. 5 days later, we are still here. Hostels are about people, not about perfect beds, air conditioning and hot showers. We were treated royally by Jorge and his family. We spent a... More

We found it the cheapest one in the town, but it definitely didn't mean we needed to weed out the quality. Rooms were really clean and light and so was rest of the hostel, including the best equipped kitchen we've seen in central america and the bathrooms. The earlier comments let us expect that there is a free breakfast served,... More

I stayed at Rio Celeste Backpackers Jan 17-19 2014. I stayed with 11 of my friends (20-22 y.o.) for 2 nights. Upon arrival the hostel seemed IDEAL but Jorge (the owner) was not very welcoming to our group. Our group rented out 2 of 3 bedrooms (a dorm that slept 8 and a room for 4). Upon inspection of the... The hostel is attached to the owners house. Not only is it clean, well appointed, and homey, but the owners are very trustworthy and trusting. We had a great stay, felt safe, and well taken care of. Breakfast was delicious too!

This place was just purely amazing. $15 and we got breakfast, VERY clean accommodation, nice hosts, beautiful house, BEST shower I ever took in Costa Rica, tea and coffee and a GREAT location. The hosts who run the place are very honest, they didn't press me to buy their services. So honest, he told me that the river would be... More
