I had the worst experience in my life staying in Rio. Honestly, still having nightmares about the last night we spent there with my boyfriend, when some guy tried to cut a mosquito net in one of the windows and get in the room.. What was the most shocking is the reaction of the personnel in the morning. We didn't... more

During my recent stay a couple of days ago at the Rio we had an experience that should not be had at any lodging regardless of the price. This is my second stay at the Rio and I liked the place, and the girls that run it last time, the place is close to the action, it is simple, but... more

The Rio is a modest building only minutes from the beach, bars and restaurants that give 'The Gap' it's happy party status. A $16 (USD) taxi fare from the Airport and you are 'home'. We had a double room with an en suite. A/c was $5(USD) for 12 hrs. The room was fine. Each room comes with a share of... more

Not far from the beach and the rest of the action in St Lawrence Gap, this little place is probably the only viable budget-backpacker option in the Barbados. they have a rum night which provides the chance for everyone to get together for those traveling alone. For us this meant a trip to Oistins for the weekly party. There is... more

Rio guest house is located in a good location. It's in St. Lawrence's gap down a side street across from the Southern Palms Hotel. One can enjoy the beautiful Dover beach by Southern Palms access. My single room at the Rio smelt musty and old. The room could've used a good airing out or air freshner. The drapes were old... more

I stayed at the Rio in September 2008 for 4 nights, and I have to say that it more than met my expectations. The place was clean, and comfortable and I found the management and staff to be extremely helpful. The location was central and the beach across the road was absolutely breathe taking. I would recommend the Rio to... more

I spent three nights at the Rio, and on balance regret it. OK it's certainly cheap and no frills, but there were a number of things which were rather irritating. The kitchen had a decidely dowdy feel with lots of rather bossy notices to guests about what to do and not do posted strategically pretty much everywhere! The place felt... more
