Looked over a few places beforehand and settled on Amaryllis due to the glowing reviews about the beach...little did we know what we were in for. It is about 40-50 min. from the airport (more if your driver decides to take the 'scenic route through Anna Nicoles burial place). Arrived at night, and was put into a room towards the... more

The Amaryllis is a pretty good hotel on the South West coast of Barbados, about a 30 second walk from the Garrison which makes it a good location for both Bridgetown and the South Coast (Rockley/St Lawrence Gap) - though you'll still have to jump on a bus to walk anywhere but at $1.50 per ride, it's not too bad... more

We visited the Amaryllis Beach Hotel between 27 October and 5 November. We were with a large party attending a Conference. Some had booked a beach view and paid extra but were allocated a garden view room and the hotel management were not interested in putting this right. You could wait forever to be served at the Turtle Beach Bar... more

Good Location in terms of bars restuarants and shops/services. Hotel grounds are kept well and first impressions were very good. Room was ok, bathroom very tired looking and needed upgrading. We had an ocean view studio, fairly big room and nice view across the beach. Bed was comfortable and room was serviced, sheets were changed 12 out of 14 days... more

Arrived in Barbados Thursday, 11/13 and left to return home on Thursday, 11/20. Was part of a party of 6. Booked 3 rooms: 2 oceanview and 1 gardenview. If you like to gamble this may be the spot for you...I'm not talking about slots and table games. I'm speaking of the chance you'll take when staying here. You may get... more

We stayed at the Amaryllis on a room only basis and were expecting an average 3* hotel on the not so popular south west side of the island - we were totally wrong! It was better than 4* on a superb stretch of beach which was lovely and quiet with a fabulous on-shore breeze which was lovely. Having toured around... more

We just got back from a week at the Amaryllis Beach Resort. It is a good value for the money. The room: it was a little small by American standards, but it was a lot bigger than much more expensive rooms in NYC. The room is well appointed with a modest size closet (with an iron and ironing board) an... more

Wonderful location on a very nice beach. Not too crowded as beach chairs and spots under the palm trees or in the sun are always available. Rooms are clean and tidy with a quiet air conditioning unit. The staff are super friendly, always with a smile and very helpful. The breakfast is a bit pricey but very good selection of... more

12 May 2008. We have just returned from a 1 week holiday at the Amaryllis Beach Resort. We had 2 rooms, 109 and 110, myself and my wife and my daughter next door. Our rooms were adequate and clean but the toilet / bathroom / shower area was really looking a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. We had... more

My wife and I just returned from Barbados (October 15-22, 2008) where we stayed at the Amaryllis Resort. It should be noted we received a "deal" from cheapcaribbean.com so that factors into my opinion on this place. Overall, I thought it was good value for the money. I read numerous reviews on this before booking my trip and they compare... more
