I have visited this lodge seceral times but mainly to go drinking or eating or visiting friends staying there. Always the owner Alan has been friendly and welcoming. The staff are also very friendly. It is about the only place in the Cape that there is somewhere with grass along the lake to lie on and chill out watching what... More

6 of us stayed here in early January. Age range from 25 to 65 and we all loved it. Delightful thatched cottages with king size beds and mozzie nets and ensuite shower rooms. Little pool and sitting area in front with rustic table and chairs and views directly onto the beach. Sat for hours watching Malawians doing their washing in... More

Spent a couple of nights here just after New Years and it was brilliant. Rooms were lovely and spacious, bathrooms amazing, and garden beautiful. Pool was perfect for a dip after going for a bike ride around the village, a kayak to Thumbi Island or a snorkel down at Otter Point. Have stayed at another place in Cape Maclear and... More

Spent a night here and it was great spot. Good value, good food, lovely lawn with tall trees overlooking the lake, plus a neat little plunge pool. Chilled out atmosphere. En-suite room is rustic but comfortable. Well managed. Glad we picked Mgoza. Cape Maclear, however, has a large permanent population and is a bit crowded. The views are beautiful, but... More

This was our first visit to Malawi and within hours of landing, we found ourselves enjoying sundowners in the delightful garden of Mgoza with its view of the paradise of Cape Maclear. The garden is a focal point - our bungalow looked over its lawn onto the lake, while we enjoyed most of our meals in the shade of its... More

Stayed at Mgoza for the first time visiting Cape Maclear after being in Malawi for more than a year (various other lodges to compare the experience to) and I was happily surprised. Given that this was the holiday season and Cape Mac is the place to be for New Years Eve in Malawi, it was impressive how smoothly things still... More

This place is absolutely brilliant! Stayed in a hut on the beach with a fantastic view of the lake to walk out to each morning. I loved staying here and it felt like the home. Alan and his staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was great especially the fish. This place is located in an ideal place where... More

We had our own thatched house with shower and bathroom, right on the beach and facing a view out of paradise. The restaurant is excellent and serves well priced, fresh food as good or better than you will find anywhere in Cape McClear. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful - you will feel right in the thick of... More

Fantastic place!!!! Had the most amazing little hut right by the beach. The room is really well done using natural surroundings (the shower is a large tree) and yet it still is quite luxurious. Located on a really nice part of the beach with lots of trees for shade. Great views and the pool area is great to cool off... More

Try the kamango fish or the chambo here. For about £3 a meal we had some of the best food ever. Alan the manager is very friendly, beach and view are great and value is top. Fat Monkeys' next door is a bit more luxurious, with a higher price and food not as good.
