My wife and I spent three marvelous nights at Monaci. The setting is without parallel - views of the sea from our room, with smoky Etna looming behind. The food was delicious - produce picked fresh daily for plates that were well-conceived and lovingly prepared. The staff was warm, attentive and thoughtful. Our stay here was the pearl in our... Very chic place to stay, the residence is clearly the passion of the owners...they introduced themselves over the complementary evening reception where you get to sample some of their amazing local produce. All of the rooms we saw were lovely and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the 'cow-shed' up on the hillside - a short walk from... More

Fantastic boutique hotel on Mt. Etna set among terraced vineyards, fruit trees and vegetable gardens. The service was welcoming in every way while the rooms were large and modern while still retaining their historic charm and original details. The breakfast with organic eggs is amazing and the complimentary wine and cheese hour is fantastic with delicious mountain cheeses and jams... More

Monaci delle Terre Nere was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived. The room, the staff and the food were all great. This is a really special place to unwind and discover eastern Sicily. If you want a pretentious five star hotel with room service and a TV then this is not for you. If you want a beautiful... More

Our stay was near perfection and we wish we could have stayed beyond our two nights. We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel so much we did not leave once (even though the surrounding area is full of attractions - not least Etna). The hotel buildings have been beautifully and stylishly restored - we stayed in a small villa in... More

Absolutely amazing. The perfect spot for touring Etna and heading out to Taromina and Catania in the most amazing location. The love that has gone into this place is apparent. The food was amazing and good value. 54 Euros for 4 courses. We only just managed 4 once as two courses were more than sufficient. The wine was expensive starting... More

Nestled in the foothills below Mt etna we were give a very warm welcome by Guido, the owner and Sara at reception. We checked in at 7pm and were immediately offered complimentary antipasti and aperitifs - we knew we'd be happy! A big fire was warming the great room with a few people milling about, great jazz music playing, all... More

We stayed at Monaci delle Terre back in the summer and had a fantastic time. If you are looking for relaxation and high quality local food, then this is the place to go. The location is off the beaten track, but in the height of summer this means the temperature is a few degrees cooler, which can make a huge... More

The location is without question spectacular and the grounds are extensive and really beautiful. I couldn't fault the hotel in that respect and I loved the fact that the sun loungers were all set up in very private areas so you actually didn't even feel like there were other people around. It was wonderfully relaxing and genuinely enjoyable sitting outside... More

My girlfriend and I spent a few nights at Monaci delle Terre Nere and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We had spent the previous 6 days in Taormina and were looking for a relaxing end to her work trip and this place delivered! The service and quality of the people who work here are extraordinary. I...
