this is a very nice and cozy hotel at water`s edge in Grundarfjordur. We stayed here as a couple and felt very welcome. the room was tidy and nice, with a nice view of the ocean on one side, and the mountains on the other! We enjoyed the Hot Tub very much! The Restaurant served very, very good food and... More

I stayed as part of a group on a photography tour. We were all put in the annex which is about 50m down the road from the main building. The room was new and comfortable. Personally I would have preferred to have stayed in the main building so you didn't have to put on the waterproofs and down jacket to... More

We have just come back from touring Iceland for 9 days, staying in a different hotel every night. We had found the service and standard of each hotel very good so was rather disappointed at what we discovered here, on our 7th hotel of our tour. At check in staff were really pleasant, told us about the facilities and booked... More

This is not a 5-star resort but you won't find any in this are that are. It is clean, comfortable and has a good resturaunt. I was very happy with our stay-free breakfast was nice. Also had nice hot tub and sauna. Would stay again.

Whilst I didn't actually stay at this hotel, I did have such a wonderful meal in their restaurant that I thought I must write about it! To start, I had an incredible soup. I'm not really one to order soup as a starter but it was delicious. However, the main through my starter into the shade. I had salmon with... More

This is the one and only hotel in town. It's nothing to get excited about but it does the job. Room on the first floor was clean and basic. Tea and coffee making facilities (with tiny cups). Except basic no frills accommodation. There's a book exchange chest on the landing and a small reception /lounge area. Dinner at the hotel... More

Service at the hotel was excellent, rooms were slightly on the small side but more than adequate. The view from the rear of the hotel is superb looking over the fjord and scores of seabirds. The complimentary tea and hot chocolate are a fabulous extra touch that adds so much, as is the optional northern lights wake up call. Unfortunately... More

Very clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Breakfast had a wide variety (cereals/yoghurt/cheese and meats/icelandic) of foods and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The chocolate dessert was absolutely amazing, I'd like to return to Iceland just to have it again! The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Right on the seafront, you walk out the backdoor and the... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2015

We have stayed in a different hotel every night, and although this is our least favorite, it certainly was just fine - somewhat like having three good dresses from which to choose. All nice, but two are no the favorite. Our room had a funky smell - perhaps someone had been smoking, but there was another scent as well. We... More

second time round we found the hotel still the same though we were put in the annex building down the road. The room was smaller and I didn't like the bathroom door which didn't seem big enough for the hole. The wifi was also poor in the annex. The food was as lovely as ever and though we haven't used,...
