Nice and very quiet location. Very close to shops and restaurants. I stayed in a small one bedroom but I couldn't complain. It is very clean with basic ammenities. The staff are nice and friendly. The hotel is located in the courtyard which looked like medieval. The market town itself looked medieval and I am sure there's lots of history... More

Built of the local stone, the George Hotel sits in the centre of Crewkerne, Somerset, opposite the Town Hall, like a friend with an outstretched hand. The food is cooked to perfection by a gentleman by the name of Frankie, who is also Mein Host of this wonderful old building. His staff are just as helpful and welcoming as he... More

On arrival I was greeted by a disgruntled proprietor who said he would not get paid for a week or so because my booking had been made through an online agent, not quite the welcome I had expected. On to the room - not much space to move around, and the décor was in dire need of attention, but all... More

We are a business with a local office in Crewkerne. We regularly accommodate staff travelling from our London office in this hotel and have done so for a number of years. The location of the hotel is great; it's right in the town centre and the rooms are spacious but very clean. Those looking for a boutique hotel should not... More

We walked in after traveling a lot. Greeted nicely, it didn't seem to bad. We soon were informed that we had to move the car at 08:00 which was hard for us because as I said, we'd been traveling a lot. But we managed fine. We were given the key to room 3. We walked in and it didn't look... More

A traditional hotel, my favourite kind, a great location and friendly staff. I love the ballroom with its minstrels' gallery but wasn't fortunate enough to see the ghost - if any. There's a history of the George on the wall in the bar. I'd love to see it online.but my mobile phone didn't have enough charge to photograph it. The... More

As the other half of the party described below, I can concur with all that was said. Our room was tired too, although it was clean; and I have seen more inviting bathrooms in military barracks. The main problem, though, was the apparent complete lack of understanding of the requirements of disabled people. When we booked we asked if there... More

We had been invited to an 80th birthday celebration in the area and booked into the hotel. We were checked in by the barman, there being no-one else available. The rooms were thankfully quite separate from the bar/restaurant area. Our room was fine although the decoration was a little tired. We showered and changed and went off to part one... More

Not impressed with this place. Aside from all the signs telling you not to smoke or you're out, not to damage the linen or you'll pay for it etc, it was grubby and smelt damp. Maybe worth £20 a night but £80 a room is a joke for what we got.

Friendly welcome after a long drive was nice. Paid £40 B&B, so got a single room with shared bathroom. Oh so dated but very clean. Never understand faded pictures that look like the car boot unsold stock. And hand written signs...such a no no. Chest freezer in the hotel entrance bizarre as well. Had a couple of beers in the...
