We were welcomed and made to feel at home. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. We felt that we were given good value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. We have no hesitation in making a positive recommendation.

This is an old coaching inn which does not always convert easily to the 21st century. My room was small, but had all the necessary facilities. The welcome was warm and friendly. Breakfast was excellent as were lunch and evening meal. Staff were courteous and efficient. Ideal as a centre for basing yourself while visiting local places of interest.

Me and my partner went to the George Hotel as part of a wedding reception and we had booked a room for the night as well. We checked in around 3pm and were told we had to pay upfront because there will be no reception staff on the desk in the morning, which we could understand. We paid £80 for... More

Somebody else has written "clean, comfortable and cheap", for me its close, I would say clean, friendly and cheap. The bed wasn't comfortable, might depend on the room, mine was a single. The staff are very friendly and helpful, in fact going out of their way. They raised my stay to very good, thanks.

The atmosphere of an old coaching stop plus the great, cheerful service and delicious meal you look for. Dark stone walls & low light - extensive malt whisky selection - very nice rest rooms - near cute shops

We first visited the Crown 50 years ago for a 21st Birthday Party, as we were passing thought we would have lunch. It was excellent great standard. I had a Stilton ploughman's, Hubby had a brunch. Lady run off her feet doing everything, booking people in for the hotel, bar, food orders and serving. She looked and acted stressed. Food... More

Visited the George Hotel Restaurant Crewkerne Somerset whilst on a trip to Barrington Court. We had the Thursday afternoon Special, choice of two roasts, steak & ale pie, gammon & mushroom pie. I had the steak pie, my wife the gammon & mushroom. Both came with 3 veg and roast potatoes. A large slice of pie stuffed with tasty tender... More

Thanks to all the staff at The George for an excellent lunch for us and 25 other bellringers. We had a really good beef carvery with lots of vegetables and everything was piping hot. Well done! Our group meets once a month at various venues in Devon and have lunch - yours was one of the best, even though it... More

Pretty well all was as expected, the room was comfortable & clean... All linen & towels etc. were nice and fresh. Pleasant greeting on check in & a goodbye on check out. As a quick overnight stop off it was perfectly adequate. A couple of niggles that maybe the owners might want to address, I'm not sure if the place... More

Nice and very quiet location. Very close to shops and restaurants. I stayed in a small one bedroom but I couldn't complain. It is very clean with basic ammenities. The staff are nice and friendly. The hotel is located in the courtyard which looked like medieval. The market town itself looked medieval and I am sure there's lots of history... More
