I am not a fan of backpackers stay but I must say Payung Guest House changed my perception. The rooms are alright and comfortable and the surroundings are beautiful. They have air condition rooms too. I think they charge RM80 for air-cond rooms and RM60 for rooms with fan. And if you are a walk-in guest arriving late at the... More

We stayed at Payung for 2 nights and could have happily stayed for much longer if we had more time. Sure the huts maybe a little basic and worn around the edges but they are clean and comfortable and far better than some other places I have stayed that have cost us more money. The setting is lovely, with a... More

This is a must stay for those traveling on the cheap! The bungalows are pretty basic but you have everything you need and more. I have to say though the best part about this place is the staff! They are all lovely and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The manager Yahya is very helpful. He... More

I stayed at payung for 2 nights and the experience was very good. Yaya who runs the place is very helpful, helped me with bus tickets to kl. You can book any bus tickets with Yaya and he will also drop you to the bus station . The chalet's are comfortable and clean.

We arrived late at night at the bus station, had nothing booked and were quite lost..There was a man offering us a room for a good rate- we had not much of a choice and didnt expect anything at all. the room was ok though.it's not the nicest place ever but it's in walking distance from the beach. The best... More

Expect a simple, functional & quite cooling chalet. What you see is what you get. There are no air-con rooms, despite what their website says; but it is quite cooling at night, so all is well. We enjoyed our stay and had a lot of fun chilling by the front porch. It's also walking distance to the beach. Small tip:... More

We made a last minute trip to Cherating and found this guesthouse really close to the beach. With the river behind, a nice place for a short stay. The guy who owns the place is very friendly and helps book the fire fly trip (apparently a great experience) but we could not go because of bad weather.

We stayed with Yahya(owner) at Payung guesthouse for two nights. He made us feel very welcome from the very start. He brought us extra bed linen when the temperature cooled after a rainy evening. He was very helpful and gave us advise on where to eat, activities etc. The chalets are basic but very cute. We had fresh mangos when... More

The guesthouse is quiete cheap (but there are some even cheaper ones) but therefore the chalets are quite basic but nice. I went there because of the fantastic feedback on tripadvisor and it met my expectations but it was not that brilliant as it as rated back in march 13 (but still good). Its close to the beach and to... More
