I rang and talked with Nick before arriving in Cherating - his guest house is one of the few on the internet that you can contact or pre book. I had originally made a tentative booking with a cheaper guest house but once I saw the mould in the rooms I went to Payung. Nick and Ria are a great... More

This was my second trip to Cherating but my first stay at Payung. I definitely prefer it to the guest house I stayed in last time. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. Like a new friend, rather than just another guest. My room was quite clean and the bathroom has been remodeled so it's... More

We stayed in our charming little chalet for 6 nights and could have easily stayed much longer if we hadn't had other plans. The chalet was cozy, comfortable and very clean. The toilet flushed and despite a few gaps in the building, we didn't even need the mosquito net provided! Nick and Ria were very friendly and helpful and gave... More

Really couldn't ask for much more from a guesthouse! Everything was clean, from the bedding to the bathroom. No roaches or ants. Didn't see more than a mosquito, either. The design of the chalets makes you feel like you are living in a real kampung (village) and the couple who run the place, Nick and Ria, are great, friendly humans.... More

On arrival the friendly owners showed us around and told us the ins and outs about Cherating. The bungalows are basic, but the good kind. Clean, everything you need is there and a good musqito net. The garden is beautiful, so it's nice to relax on your balcony as well. The English owner helps you with trips, around town and... More

A very pleasant collection of chalets in a shaded green area in the heart of Cherating. Payung guesthouse is a clean and convenient place to stay. The owners are very helpful and welcoming and gave me a lift to the station when I missed my first bus.

I'm afraid that I don't have anything positive to say about this place. I made the mistake once and I will never stay here again: 1) The place is poorly maintained, in fact, if at all 2) Unreasonably loud music at night, especially at the weekend from a neighbouring guest house 3) I avoided using the bathroom as much as... The area is nice and cosy. Beautiful trees and a nice hangout place. Look more like a small village. They have all the things you need. Waterheater, a fridge and a proper pantry with a sink, an air-con. and a fan, bed is ok with a mosquito net. They have a box TV, but why would you watch TV when... More

Stayed for 2 nights in the air-conditioned chalet for a good price. It comes with a simple pantry area which was enough to serve us whenever we didn't feel like eating out. Toilet and shower are clean and to our satisfaction as it is one of the top few things we'd look out for when we stay out. The room... More
