Given that I felt like I was travelling to the ends of the earth to reach Yakutsk, I didn't have high expectations for finding a good hotel here. I was pleasantly surprised. Also known as the Polar Star hotel, I found it clean, comfortable and above all, WARM (important when it's minus 39 outside). Rooms were a bit dated and... More

First, this hotel (also known as the Hotel Polar Star) is probably the best hotel that international business travelers will find in Yakutsk, based on my experience and that of my business colleagues. I recently spent three weeks in the hotel. I found that the food was above average, the rooms fairly comfortable, the room WiFi was stable, and enough... More

Despite this hotel is promoted as an excellent one they have some problems to solve. I've spent there 2 days. Running water from all the devices was too hot first. When I called to receprtion to inform them abt this problem, I've got advice to turn water on and to wait. In 20 minutes of waiting temperature of water was... More

This hotel should be rated as good for Russia. Because it's not completely average. I've stayed here for many times for work sometimes up to 4 weeks and I'm happy to go back any time. The girls in the front desk are very helpful, and some of them speak very good English. The internet isn't very good and sometimes not... More

I stayed at the North Star Hotel in Yakutsk for three nights. I found the bed very comfortable, the staff really friendly and the food was pretty good too although most of my meals were taken elsewhere. I stayed in a 'posh' hotel in Moscow and frankly found the North Star more to my liking. More of a homey kind... More

Actually, common German two-star hotel beats this Best of Yakutia lodging on any front. Too much pompa, too much glamour. But, actually, typical soviet "gostinnitsa", and nothing more. Rooms - nothing special, but towels ARE very aged. Water in system is "coloured" - yellow-red, thanx God not smelly. Couldn't connect teapot. Half of electric sockets didn't work. Restaurants. Prices -... More

I stayed here for two nights and used it as a base to learn a little more about this centre of diamond mining, mammoth ivory and research, and building construction on permafrost. Hotel staff were friendly. rooms were clean, and communication was easy with minor Russian and with English. Walking around town was easy with the rectangular grid with a... More

We stayed in this hotel for one night during the business trip. It’s an amazing, with pretention to luxury hotel. Friendly staff, rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and breakfast was really good. We also came to the hotel restaurant for dinner. Italian food of course was not that Italian, but was good and tasty. Do recommend this hotel for... More

Nice and clean 3 star hotel in the city center. Walking distance to the main square. Service is ok and you can have local food for lunch or dinner. Buffébreakfast with some local flavour. When in Yakutsk remember to see the old parts. Very special wooden houses.

I had high expectations for this hotel because it is owned by ALROSA, the world's biggest diamond producer (before De Beers), and also operating commercial & private airplanes and a LENA cruise ship. In fact, the locals will rather know the North Star as the Polar Star or as the "Alrosa Hotel". I was terribly disappointed. The problem is the... More
