I'll be honest, I tried very hard to stay at Heritance Kandalama based on personal recommendations but it was fully booked - Cinnamon Lodge was a second choice. The welcome was fine and the staff were very friendly. My room must have been in the last building because the walk was a good ten minutes which was okay because it was quiet. The room was very nice, but the frequent power outages caused the aircon to reset several times - this isn't uncommon for any hotel/office building in Sri Lanka or India though so no worries.

I would say that I only have one single complaint - the dinner buffet. I woke in the middle of the night very sick and spent the next day in quite a lot of pain. I informed the manager when I checked out, but he seemed relatively indifferent although there was not too much that could be done at that point.

For anyone visiting Lake Minneriya or Habarana, wait until you can get into Kandalama if at all possible. more
