one word to describe this place is “amazing”. There are two lodges each having two separate bedrooms with ensuite on first level, a common sitting and dining area on the lower level. The lodges have been constructed using recycled materials and this gives them a very unique look. Very well maintained and looked after by the ever smiling and courteous... More

This was the highlight of our holiday for me! We stayed here in one of Maulie's treehouse rooms for 4 nights, and we were so glad we had extended our stay to do this! It's a perfect location to explore any of the cultural triangle highlights, but also a fantastic place to slow down and really embrace the local surroundings.... More

What a place, the jungle tree house was everything we wanted it to be. Hidden in the jungle and surrounded by nature yet with all the amenities we would want. The accommodation was tasteful, clean, dry and cosy and all with perfect Sri Lankan hospitality. And the food - delicious! We we're hooked on curds and honey for the rest... More

It is such a special place! Beautiful setting surrounded by jungle. Maurie will join you for breakfast and dinner and tell stories about animals you might encounter. The children (6 & 4) loved sleeping in the 'treehouse', and started 'seeing' all kinds of animals, including giraffes, tigers and dragons. We encountered nothing frightening though. Its a good location to all... More

...and started a b&b you'd have Galkadawala! Constructed in a forest rehabilitated from a slash and burn rural property this is a truly unique experience! The original lodge has a lovely traditional Eco-lodge feel... It is in the newer building where one gets the post-apocalyptic resort feel. Working with a very creative architect using reclaimed industrial materials the common and... More

A friend and I have recently spent 4 nights at Gadakwala with Moulie, Veerasinghe and the rest of the team of people that go out of their way to make your stay feel like home from home. Moulie has been inspired to create a pleasant, homely, comfortable, friendly place that is simple, quiet, tranquil and in a spot that one... More

Built nicely without disturbing to nature. Bathroom modern and well built. Situated just in front of a tank thats full of birds. Meals tasty. Nice place to have a barbecue at night. Stairs little difficult to climb for older people. But they can stay in ground floor

One needs a good bed and good food in a good hotel and you find them both at Galkadawala...even the food without beef and fish they serve are a treat. The ambiance created is unique and very different from the standard boutique and even if one does not indulge in anything at all but just enjoy one's stay here from... More

Coming here was the best move of our holiday so far! Maulie has created paradise in the jungle, and it's with good reason that one of the guests has been staying there for 5 weeks already. If you're coming just to relax and enjoy nature, this is for you. But if you're looking for a perfectly situated place from which... More
