We (budget travellers) chose to stay in Habarana Inn because of the price, availability, and the review from our travel books - Habarana seemed like an ideal base for visits to Dambulla, Sigiriya, Pollonaruwa, and Minneriya National Park. While the location of the town was very convenient (everything easily reachable by bus), we stayed here way too long - 4... More

We stayed here for 4 nights. Oke for the money we payed. The rooms seemed clean but there where a lot of ants everywhere. The breakfast is standard and they only had fried rice for dinner. The wifi is fine when it worked but we had the feeling that they turned it out when people where using it too long... More

The lock of my door broke the first night I was there. I was locked in. They broke the lock. I stay inside for two night and just leave the door open when I am outside because the door was broken which is fine to me that they have no intention to fix the lock or change my room. HOWEVER,... More

This is not the same hotel that has been reviewed in the past. Heidi has left and the hospitality went with her. The new manager did not honor my reservation that I made through agoda so I had to pay twice. He was always hanging around and bothering us. This was not a cultural thing. It was a personality thing.... More

It's a basic, but clean place for travellers on a budget who are looking for a good starting point to visit a National Park or Pollonaruwa (or Sigiriya for that matter). Nobody advertises a Boutique Hotel, so one shouldn't be surprised that the rooms lack a bit in appeal. What you pay for is the location and the truly great... More

I might've got the most terrible room in this guest house, but there is no hot water for the shower for the rate of 3000 rupees/night! The shower/toilet room is full of ants. The window was actually facing just outside the indoor toilet. There were some ants on the fruits in the breakfast.... If this guesthouse had been really cheap... More

thank you for your review! I am sorry that you feel like that about The Habarana Inn. This guesthouse is located in nature. It is difficult to stop nature. It has it's own will. The electricity is very expensive here that is why we have to charge that amount. Kind regards Heidi More

Heidi and her husband treated us with tremendous concern and care. We felt more like friends that customers. We liked the softer older style of the place, food was excellent and everything clean. Nothing was too much trouble.

The place looks like it has seen better days, a nice building, but run down. Heidi, the manager, and all the staff are all very nice and helpful, but this does not make up for the state this place is in. The room we stayed in was small and dark. There were bugs and spiders everywhere and it could have... More

The room facing the restaurant is dark and inhabited by spiders and their web all over. Bathroom is tiny and dirty with toilet leaking on the floor. Thank you for your review. I am aware of the fact that the bathrooms are old. I am renting this place so I can't change anything on the infrastructure. I can only maintain it nicely. We clean the rooms every time guests leave. Spiders are a part of nature. Kind regards Heidi More

There are not a lot of budget places in this area so the choices are limited. We liked the price and hoped we could get good advice from the owner regarding visiting sites in the area as so many places are tied into the highest cost excursions. The manager, Heidi, was indeed nice and pointed to a neat walk behind... More

Thank you for your review! I am really sorry that you didn't like our food. But I have to tell you that our rice and curries are delicious. We have now a different company that delivers chicken with a lot of meat on. Kind regads Heidi More
