Le Grand Meaulnes I stayed at Le Grand Meaulnes for one night in mid-April. The location is 1km north of the Habarana crossroad and 1.5km south of the railway station and Eco Park. There is a bus stop within 100m. There is a driveway from the gates at the main road and the first impression is very good. All rooms... More

After climbing Sigiriya and visiting the cave temples in Dambulla and before heading down to Polonnaruwa, this was the perfect stop for a good night's rest. The owners and the staff are joyful and chatty (in a good way), the breakfast is fresh and plentiful (we especially enjoyed the lime juice). The rooms are quite bare but very elegant and... More

Stayed here for 3 days and really enjoyed our stay. Having breakfast early in the morning wasn't an issue and was always ready on time. Simple breakfast but of fruit, toasts and eggs but was enough to get the day started. Also had dinner at the hotel and it was always good and plentiful. The rooms are large and the... More

Le Grand Meaulnes is perfectly positioned for exploring any of national or eco parks in close proximity as well as Sigiriya, Dambulla, Pollonaruwa etc. Rooms are basic but very spacious and staff was much more than helpful and friendly. Food and local cocktails prepared by them were tasty and we really enjoyed our stay there. As all of the above... More

The property is spot on for the cultural triangle...just off the road with large rooms. The staff is OK but we had a weird experience with the Owner. Even after confirming THRICE - yes thrice for the dinner prior to our arrival when we reached at around 8.30 - There was no dinner and staff was absolutely clueless about our... More

The place is located about 1km outside Habarana, off the Trinco road, so it's a nice 15min walk into town. It's very quiet and well kept, so we do not share other commentators complaints about flies, leaking toilets and no hot water. Our room was huge and well equipped. Staff took care of us very nicely, dinner and breakfasts were... More

Globally very poor. Breakfast was very simple and minimalist. Similar for dinner, expensive, indeed. No room cleaning during our 4 days stay. Very small soap to share for two, have to ask for additional toilet paper... etc. and full of flies… Better you look for another location and "better location" may also finally means to look stright for another country.... I would not recommend this place to older people or people who look for some luxery. The rooms are spacey but a bit damp. The (bath) room was not very clean and the matrass was really thin. The prices are good and if you're looking for basic it will answer your needs. Manager was very friendly to us.

We have stayed in this nice family hotel on a way from Kalpitya to Kandy. Its very conveniently located close to Hurula Nature Park where we went elephant watching. Rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable. There are ACs in each room, beds are convenient. For a price you pay, its a very nice place, with good food. Sunil... More

We felt very welcome at this place. Sunil welcomed us upon arrival with a welcome drink and asked what we wanted for dinner even though we arrived after 8 pm. Sunil helped us in any way possible. Elephant riding, meals and transport to the next place. Thank you Sunil for the excellent service! And also thanks for the great food... More
