This is an excellent place to chill out. Dar Sidi Bounou offers authentic southern Moroccan hospitality. Accommodation is in rooms in the main house, in adobe chalets, or in tents by the dunes. Nancy and Daoud are excellent hosts, and the Idir, Mohamed and all the other staff are wonderful. The food - I recommend full board - is a... More

Lovely welcome from Nancy, Daoud and staff. Simple but more than adequate room with roof terrace and great food. The compound with its mud-built house is just off the road and backed by sand-dunes. Lots of lovely dogs and cats, though not intrusive.Donkey cart rustled up for enthralling trip to two kasbahs, one of which is fast being reclaimed by the... More

A completely authentic experience with lovely food and music on the edge of the sand dunes. A warm welcome here for the more artist minded or those interested in local culture. A visit and a stay at Bounou is a must if you venture past Zagora to where the road runs out and the desert begins.

DSB has begun to feel like a home from home for us, which is why we keep coming back. We have travelled here with various different friends over the past two years and everybody who visits comes away a little spellbound... DSB is the perfect combination of good friends, great food, enchanting music and simple living, and really that is... More

I visited Dar Sidi Bounou early november as part of a project looking for suitable locations and found it delightful, simple and traditional. Even though it is located in close proximity to the desert, it manages to have water and electricity, though as with most desert locations, resources are precious and sometimes scarce, so electricity is usually turned off at... It's the end of the world and yet you have access to running water (showers), excellent food and even wifi... everyone is very friendly. The staff will attend to your every need. You are not treated there as a client but as a guest. I enjoyed having long conversations with the owner. The owner is from UK, so she knows... More

Staying at Dar Sidi Bounou is like a childhood summer holiday at a favourite aunt's house. You play in the sand dunes and kasbah ruins and then come back for captivating teatime tales and impromptu music and dance with friends and neighbours who drop in.

The staff make Dar Sidi Bounou and its why we have returned with groups each year but the place is going downhill fast with nothing being repaired or replaced despite discussing it with the owner/manager. Toilets and showers often don't work and ours leaked at the base. Such a shame this lovely place is falling into disrepair. Doubt if we... More

Thanks so much for your helpful, understanding review of Dar Sidi Bounou... which is going "downhill fast" in your considered opinion. We are extremely sorry that we have not been able to fix the plumbing that you are complaining about... however it seems that you either were not listening, or did not fully understand the problem when you 'discussed' it... Even though Dar Sidi Bounou is a long way from anywhere it is well worth the effort. Well there you can relax and simply enjoy being there. And it certainly helps that Rakia is an excellent cook! At Sidi Bounou everything seems to be possible, arrangeable and easy. The rhythm of life and the way of life overall differs from... More

Sometimes the best things happens without planning, which was our case during ten days traveling across Morocco, ending up in M'Hamid charming village at the gates of Sahara desert. Renting a car with our new traveling buddy Uli, we end up at Dar Sidi Bounou, and we fell in love in place immediately because of its mesmerizing beauty and good... More
