This was a special place for myself, husband and daughter. We arrived to find out that a reservations for one room with 3 beds had been replaced with 2 rooms. My grown daughter was excited to get away from her parent for the night. We were in awl over this old hotel. The views from the rooms were fanatic, and... More

I spent a night here with my parents, husband and children (10 and 8). I found it to be a perfectly delightful, one-of-a-kind experience -- the views are TRULY specular as indeed is the fortress itself. I've never had to cross a moat to reach my bedroom before... The staff was courteous and helpful and there were a variety of... More

I decided to spend a night in Sorano after I noticed this hotel online. The town, while lovely, is tiny and won't constitute even a single day of sightseeing. However, for the price, the view, the charm, and the excellent restaurants down the street, this is a special place to stay for a night before exploring Tuscany (I stayed the... More

We were really amazed by the location of this hotel. Spectacular views over the town of Sorano. i've never stayed anywhere like this before. It is an old fort, so it makes complete sense that it would overlook the rooftops. Friendly staff, nice breakfast. A bat did sneak in the window, which was a bit of a surprise, but my... More

It was great to stay in a real castle. You have to cross a moat to get to it. They gave me, as a single traveler, a great room with a million dollar view over the entire city and countryside. It was extraordinary. Being a castle keep in mind a number of things. There is no air conditioning, but a... More

Very friendly welcome, comfortable rooms with the most amazing views down onto the old town. We dined at the local restaurant associated with the castle (turn left & 250yrds on left) which buzzed, served wonderful food & was really frequented by locals. For those touring in the area, thoroughly recommended in every way

I am flabergasted to read the review prior to mine, but all I can say is "to each his own". My opinion of this hotel couldn't be more opposed to the one previous. We were just blown away at how lovely this hotel was. It is charming and you feel like your living a fairy tale. The views from the... More

Restauration of building is poor, Rooms are unconfortable, cleannesss need to be improoved. Ugly decoration and no parking really nearby. You need to leave your car at hundreds of meters appart and walk through unpaved road to reach hotel.

And we did relax and let down our hair (not out the window though - the windowsill was too wide!) Jessica in reception was very friendly and helpful, from our first internet enquiry to helping with information of the area and arranging discount at sights. Great experience to stay in this old castle. Rooms were large enough and comfortable with... More

A wonderful spot, a charming hotel with staff to match. Had a large room, with wonderful views, good breakfast. The only quibble is the steep approach to parking in front of the hotel entrance. In the Winter it must for very good drivers only. Highly recommended for a stay. We found the people in the town of Sorano also obliging... More
