A good location for the train & bus station and the town itself. Two aspects disappointed us. There were some ramshackle electrics in our bathroom where only a single single light bulb worked; rather worse, the breakfast fare was poorly displayed, difficult to access, and sloppily cared for. There's enough space to do this properly. We have found such poor... More

This hotel may be for everyone; however we enjoyed our stay. It's set back in its own grounds and is opposite the station and the spa. It's quite, our room was large, enormous TV, two bathrooms and a balcony. We didn't see the owners until the next day when we had a good breakfast in a large conservatory. The hotel... More

This hotel mightn't be for everybody but if you like a relaxed atmosphere, big rooms, nice balcony, great location then this could be for you. We stayed in Late May and the weather was awful, it rained for 2 days but the hotel made us feel very comfortable. The owners were very nice and had good english to accommodate our... More

It was late April 2014 that we stayed in this hotel. So please consider that my comments might fail for hot summer days or colder days. First of all I feel that It is not a hotel for everybody but if you are not after luxury, if you are not after a formal hotel atmosphere and if you enjoy being... More

Perfect location minutes from everything. Another review talked about kitchy decor and the reception not being often occupied. Try never. You must be a very independant traveller to appreciate the experience. You check in, and if you dont go to breakfast, you never see staff again. The room was cold; they turn the radiator on very low. But the blankets... More

We travelled from Hallstatt to Salzburg. We stopped in Bad Ischl to catch bus 150 to Salzburg. We wanted to spend a few hours to check out Bad Ischl. We went up to hotel Sonnhof and asked if they could keep our luggage. The two ladies at the front desk were extremely nice. The asked if we had reservation and... More

Loved this hotel! Has lots of character with the decor, and a really lovely conservatory with garden for a view to eat breakfast in - ask for eggs as they have their own chickens so you'll get nice fresh ones! Our room (number 10) was fab - very spacious, lovely comfy beds, and a nice big balcony with great view... More

I booked this place from a review in my Lonely Planet. It ended up being one of my favorite stops on my trip. Even though it is right across from the train/bus station, it feels like you are in the woods. And it's just a 5 minute walk or so, to the more main part of town. It is a... More

I stayed one night at Sonnhoff and enjoyed it very much. Christa (the owner) was pleasant and attentive and cooked a wonderful breakfast. It is a steep but quick walk up a small hill just by the train station, and it also is very close (perhaps a ten minute walk) to the center of town. The small hotel is run... More
