Having lived so close to Lady Elliot for so long, visiting relatives finally gave us the push we needed to visit. We flew over just as the remains of a cyclone passed over the island, which is usually the story of our holidaying lives... However, we need not have worried,as it had moved south overnight so the weather was perfect.... More

Thank you to the amazingly passionate team at Lady Elliot Island for the perfect family holiday. We enjoyed seven nights during the school holidays this month and were so lucky to encounter both the professional island team, led by Andreas, and the gorgeous island/ocean wildlife. From excellent snorkeling to saving the turtle hatchlings as they emerged from their nests and... More

From the flights out (from Hervey Bay Airport), to the reception at the island and all through our stay the service was excellent and thoughtful. The accommodation is a bit basic, presumably in keeping with their 'Eco-resort' tag and the food is also basic though reasonable quality. The resort really scores as it is turtle breeding island, mostly green turtles... More

We had not been for 5 years, but could not think of a better place to take our (now grown up) family, so back we went, a little fearful that it would not live up to our memories. We were not disappointed, the fish were bigger and fatter and friendlier and the staff were even more helpful and professional. The... More

Our 4th one-week visit to this wonderful island with its fantastic eco-resort didn't disappoint us, on the contrary. As usual a fantastic scenic flight with a small plane from Hervey Bay. This year we had a kind of personal reception and service by the manager, Andreas, who is a warm and friendly character indeed. As repeating visitors we received a... More

Unlike most other entry points to the Great Barrier Reef, you can fly into Lady Elliot Island rather than take a long boat ride through potentially choppy waters, and once you're there you can snorkel by walking in right from the beach. No crowds, no schedules, no giant pontoon boat rocking in the waves. You sacrifice nothing in making this... More

What a week. If you care about the environment this is the place for you. I would describe LEI as "daggy but gorgeous". Everything is there, without the extras but who needs them. The staff are delightful and are passionate about "their" island. It is a place where you can learn about so much and swim with turtles, fish, manta... More

We had an amazing experience here. The facilities themselves are quite basic and simple (no pillow menu or room service here,), but what the Island offers is so precious. Being amongst nature, snorkelling every day (equipment included), star gazing at night unhindered by lights, watching sun rises and sunsets directly over the water- priceless. The fact that breakfast and dinner... More

What a wonderful long weekend I've just had. I went with 7 friends on a dive weekend. It was a 6 hour drive for me to get to Hervey Bay and we went up the night before as our flight to LEI left at 0810. I had been to the island about 20 years earlier and knew what to expect... More

This was the most expensive and biggest disappointment of our trip to Australia. The best bit was the flight to and from the Island which was great fun. The introduction was rushed through at such speed that I hardly understood a word. Staff should remember that though they know the spiel by heart, most customers are hearing it for the... More
