My wife and I have been here, three years ago, when Jane and John, the proprietors, were in their first season of operation. When we were investigating having a different Christmas rather than my wife having to do all the cooking, we looked up Dunkery Beacon, remembering the food last time, cooked by Chef / Proprietor John, was wonderful and... Christmas is a really special time and especially here at the hotel. We love putting up the decorations in our Edwardian Lounge and planning what treats to spoil our guests with and what new and exciting creations to put on the menu each evening. We were so happy to see you back again and glad you enjoyed the festivities, chatting... More

Having stayed at the Dunkery Beacon Hotel during the summer, we decided to come back again for the 'Dunster by Candlelight' festivities, only this time we brought along my husband's parents for the weekend. We took rooms 5 and 10, 10 being the upstairs room with a wonderful bay window looking out over the countryside, and a four poster bed.... More

Thank you for another lovely review. It was great to see you both return so soon and with parents to share the experience. Dunster by Candlelight is a great pre-Christmas event and really gets you in the festive spirit, if our Mulled wine had not already! We are now looking forward to another wonderful year ahead and meeting both new... More

Just spent a delightful couple of days here with family. John and Jane, the owners, are a lovely couple. Nothing was too much trouble. The food is wonderful and the wine list is excellent. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Jane and John are perfect hosts. We had the room at the top with stunning views and after a days walking a very comfortable bed with good linen. The food was local which was reflected in the menu and cooked very well and the breakfasts were so large that you didn't need lunch. Best of all was the wine list.... More

We're very glad that you enjoyed your weekend stay with us and appreciated the great wine we have on the list as well as the food, many ingredients of which we are able to source locally and include on our menu. Exmoor and the South West have a rich supply of food producers and utilising some of these producers has... More

We had a lovely night's stay with a great room, truly wonderful food and wine and excellent company not just from hosts, Jane and John, but also the other guests using the hotel and restaurant. It would be impossible not to feel relaxed in the lounge with a wood burner pushing out the heat on a dark November evening and... More

We had a large, comfortable, smart, clean room. There was an equally smart, comfortable lounge where we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks. Staff were friendly, polite and efficient. The food was delicious. It was a real treat to stay there.

We made a late booking here after having to change our holiday plans and I am so pleased that we came across it. We have just returned from a great couple of days on Exmoor. As others have commented, the location of this hotel is fabulous, with walks in every direction straight from the door (and a drying room in case the weather is more unkind than it was to us). We were greeted by John on arrival with tea and fresh home... More

We think attention to detail is very important too and we're glad you noticed the little touches which, hopefully, make a difference to your stay. We're very glad you also enjoyed dinner in our restaurant on Saturday... More
