John and Jane run a fabulous little hotel in a spectacular location. From little touches like spring water and milk in the fridge, to freshly ground coffee and cafetiere in the room to Johns amazing cooking - there was nothing to fault. Prior to our arrival we were asked about allergies and pillow preferences, a nice touch that you dont... More

We spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel whilst visiting family over the Dunster by Candlelight weekend. We really enjoyed our stay and was made to very welcome by the owners John and Jane. Prior to our visit we were offered a free room upgrade which was very nice indeed, lovely room with a great view. We ate in the... More

Thank you for your kind review. Dunster by Candlelight is a great event and really shows this medieval towns history at its best. Due to Dunster being closed to traffic on these nights and only 10mins drive away, we are more than happy to drop our guests off, which also allows them to make the most of the evenings festivities.... Spent three nights over New Year with wonderful imaginative dinners. Everything in the bedrooms down to the smallest detail is excellent or more. For example, the loo paper is quilted and even the tea bags in the room are best quality. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished with high quality 'stuff' and lacking nothing. The lounge is warm... More

Thank you for taking time to post such a lovely review. Our three years here have been spent listening to our customers feedback and reviewing our service accordingly, to make sure we get it right for all our guests. We really enjoy having people to stay and on occasions such as Christmas and New Year, it feels all that more... More

A wonderful welcome from Jane and John who take the trouble to get to know you and ensure you have everything you need. Don't indulge too much in the cream tea on the verandah on arrival or the excellent homemade shortbreads in the room each day or you won't have room for John;s excellent fare in the reastaurant! Tucked away... More

Thank you for taking time to review us and we are very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Now with Winter upon us the log fire is roaring away and is so cosy to walk into after a day walking the hills of Exmoor. As we cook seasonally in the Coleridge Restaurants kitchen, our gamekeeper has just brought in... More

We wanted a quiet, restful week away in Exmoor and what a find. We stayed in room 10 which has a wonderful bay window area with seats overlooking the Exmoor hills. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. But its the hosts Jane and John who make it special indeed. John is a fine chef and the food is wonderful. We... More

Dear Iain, Thank you for your review and apologies for not responding sooner. Although it is a quieter period at the moment we had decided to refurbish the ground floor suite and the scale of this task quite overtook all other duties. As you may have seen on facebook, this room is now finished and looking a little more contemporary.... More

Excellent fresh local produce. Courteous service, gives this a very private dining experience. The wine list supplied mostly .. If not wholely by London wine merchant Berry Brothers and Rudd is comprehensive and very well priced. An altogether fine dining experience.

We stayed here to attend an event in the village, never having been to this part of Somerset before - it was so nice we extended our stay! The hotel is clean and comfortable and well located for a quiet weekend away. There is plenty to do and see in the area and there are numerous good walks of varying... More

Thank you very much for your feedback. Exmoor is much under-rated as a destination and holds great surprises to those visiting for the first time and even for those returning. As much as we may feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the towns, there are many things to do either from our doorstep or within a short drive... More

I stayed at the Dunkery last weekend after reading all the great reviews on here...and they were not exaggerated! The scenery was stunning and the guest house was absolutely lovely. But what really makes it special is Jane, John and Yvonne. Each of them in their own way is always doing all they can to ensure that your stay is... More

Although your visit was short, we're so glad you took the time and effort to journey all the way from London (using different modes of public transport) to experience our little patch of wonderful, unspoilt countryside. Your help with the blackberry picking was most appreciated and on your next visit we'll be digging potatoes!! It's great having such fresh produce... More

We have just returned from the hotel, we traveled with our neighbours . It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and we celebrated in style with some nice touches provided by John, Jane and Yvonne . The food and wine were superb and the service second to none. Thank you for a lovely time.

I wish we had stayed longer. John and Jane are delightful hosts. The setting is one of the most calming, restful pieces of real estate anywhere (and you need calming after negotiating the roads!!) We were headed to Cornwall, but didn't want to make the whole drive from Heathrow after coming in on a red eye. I picked this place... More
