A great location for travellers who are looking to scale Mount Bromo. Room was pretty basic and so was the toilet. It seemed rather dated but it was just a stopover place for us as the highlight was Mount Bromo. The restaurant serves pretty good food too; you can find local and Western cuisine here. It's great for a short... More

This place is OK, nothing special, but in a good location for visiting Bromo with a decent restaurant and a good place to meet other travellers. On the downside, it is very damp (as I expect everywhere up in the mountains is) and the price is very high for the family room (almost £40 GBP) - when you think we... More

The main reason to stay here is the location close to the caldera rim. Thus you can just walk to Mt Bromo and the sunrise viewpoint 2 from here. Otherwise the hostel is unimpressive: Rooms are clean but dark and moist (no heating at night), the cafe is rather dark as well. But given the lack of alternatives, it's perfectly... More

We got a standard room which was way too expensive for what you got in return: the smell of mould was very apparent. The room was very dark with the dark brown wooden plates nailed to the wall and ceiling. We also had a huge cockroach that fell from the ceiling on our floor. It was not a surprise that... More

The facilities are normal. Good wifi connection in the restaurant. I stayed 1 night for a jeep tour to Bromo. Good location. The breakfast does not worth Rp40K with its quality. Steady hot shower. I'm sure I'll come again.

We stayed for 2 nights at Cafe Lava, The location is excellent as it was situated along the main Road with a few shops, local restaurants and very near to entrance of the National Park. It is just a few mins away to the view point on the edge of the ancient Caldera Rim of Mt Tengger that gives you... More

We stayed at Cafe Lava Hostel for one night before visiting Bromo. We stayed in an Economy room for 175,000 Rp. The room was as small as it could have possibly been. It was just a bed and a small table. The room was almost too small for two people to stand in there at the same time with the... More

We stayed for one night at Cemara Indah and were then moved to Cafe Lava as they were full. Cemara Indah has a great viewing platform, but the rooms are pretty basic and only 2 rooms actually have views of the crater. We much preferred the rooms in Cafe Lava and the staff seemed more friendly and helpful - not... More

First off, it was difficult to book a room at this hostel/hotel, because there simply wasn't enough information online. Agoda and one other website allows one to make an online booking, but there were complaints of people getting cheated/scammed. Additionally, there were multiple phone numbers for the hostel, which greatly complicated things. Moreover, booking through tour companies is a sure-fire... More

I stayed here a few times, convenient, traditional look but very cool, delicious cuisine, sights to a beautiful sunrise, near the road leading down to the sea of sand of Mount Bromo. Hotel staircase down to suit the contours of the land, bamboo furniture making increasingly felt comfortable.
