This was really good fun. Scared when I first saw the buckets (never seen one like this), but the ride was really smooth and great gliding up and down the side of the mountain. Spectacular views of Lake Maggiore. Get the ferry or bus to Intra, then the regular car ferry from there to Laveno. You can walk further up... More

We went on the funivia towards the end of our holiday. I had my left arm in plaster up to my shoulder from a fall so I had to be careful.. The buckets in which you travelled were open, and a few were closed in, but it was impossible for me to get into one as there was no handle... More

Funivie is a unique place for anybody who appreciates a gigantic view on one of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet. The hotel facilities are aged, but receive regular maintenance. Be in time for the last gondola up the hill.... Better to place a call in advance before you arrive very late.

We stayed at the hotel for one night in August and had dinner at the restaurant. The 360 degree view is one of the most spectacular I have seen anywhere in the world, and dinner on the terrace was very romantic. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and very good value for money for this area. It's certainly... More

The Funivie cable car was a blast. From the start it was my intention to ride the cable car to the summit and then walk down the hiking trail back to Laveno. I didn't expect to be in such a old school kind of cable car (bucket), but I loved the thrill of it and the chance to be out... More

We have been looking at Laveno from our apartment in Stresa all week, we can see that there is a cable car going up and decide that we must do this before we leave the lake. From our apartment we catch the bus around to Intra, from the bus stop it is a short 5 minute walk to the ferry... More

if visiting laveno you have to ride the funivie to the top and down again (10 euros return) at the top the restaurant/hotel has a lovely terrace. the food was good and the service also. theres a more informal bar/café on the other side of the funivie (funicular).

We stayed here for a week in October when the hotel was very quiet. We arrived late (after the cable car had closed) but Paula (who runs the place) organised for the car to run especially for us. This set the tone for the service we received the whole week. We were treated like part of the family and hugged... More

We stayed for 4 nights at the hotel on top of the mountain. It is only accessible by cable car (not recommended for those who suffer from vertigo) and the ride is an absolute delight . The cost for the cable car was 10 euros, which gave us a pass valid for the four days. (We left our car in... More

We visited Baveno, Lake Maggiore recently (July - Aug 2012) and saw the cable car illuminated at night, and decded to travel there and take a ride. The cable car is actually in Laveno, which can be reached by the vehicle ferry across the lake at Intra. The cost for the cable car was 10 Euros per person which is... More
