we were on a sailing turn on the Lago Maggiore and looking for a secure place to stay over night. The Porticciolo has it's own jetty and we could park our boat for free over night. The rooms have been newly renovated, like the whole hotel was well maintained. The location is superb, just overlooking the bay of Laveno. The... More

We hosted a group of cyclists in Laveno Mombello and spent 6 nights at Il Porticciolo.mthe property is approx 800mts from the ferry station so a very easy walk into the village. The hotel has recently been renovated and it is very interestingly built into the rock face along the lake. Appearance from the road is deceiving as the building... More

As someone already mentioned, looks run down, from parking you go down about 3 flights of stairs to reception, we were there at very start of season so was quiet, took few mins to find anyone to enquire about rooms etc, nothing booked but happily showed us a couple to choose from. Got a lovely room, newly done, spotless, right... More

I loved the stay and the owners were amazing and hospitable. Will definitely go back and try and get the same room!!! Right on water and slept with a panoramic view of the lake!left car and was adequate parking and very close to the center. Would recommend to all and would like to return next year. Don't miss this place

We had stayed at Il Porticciolo five years ago and loved the rooms overlooking the lake and especially loved our meals there. We returned last month for a dinner and it was superb--everything was artfully prepared and delicious. Since our last visit, the chef has been to France, working for several years with the famous chef Joel Rubuchon of L'Atelier... More

Nice location, if renovated :-) Our room had sea view, but was located above a water shrink, so we avoided to look down... Not very appropriate for families with small children, many steps to climb, parking was sometimes difficult. Main problem was the unhospitality of the owners towards foreign guests. We did not feel welcome, the male owner obviously preferred... More

This place confused me to bits.... When you arrive you think you have driven in to a dilapidated supermarket carpark. From the outside the hotel is falling to peices and poorly constructed. Once you have desended the concrete entrance staircase and checked in, the rooms are actually ok. Recently renovated, funtional etc. We had a Jnr suite with a lake... More

1) This side of the Lago Maggiore doesn't worth a trip. If you want to visit some authentic gems, cross the lake! 2) Laveno is not interesting; 3) The hotel is well located with a nice view but should be sharply renewed; 4) The staff is extremly unfriendly; 5) Breakfast is very poor; 6)We didn't have dinner at the hotel's restaurant
