This is a reasonable 3 star equivalent hotel with a lovely location on the side of Lake Como, but the real problem is there is virtually nothing to do in the immediate vicinity meaning that most evenings you are captive in the hotel. One consequence of this is that the half board evening meals leave a lot to be desired.

I have just returned from a week's stay in the Grand Hotel Imperiale with Riviera Travel, and found it to be an idiosyncratic, but charming place to stay. The staff were, without exception, one of the friendliest and most helpful groups of people I have ever come across. I did experience a couple of problems with a noisy room and... More

We spent a week at this hotel with Riviera Travel, no complaints at all with either the rooms, staff or food. In general, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Special mention of the staff in the piano bar who looked after us with pre dinner drinks in the evening. Moltrasio is quite small but the climb up into... More

The hotel is nice although a bit old. It has a very nice view of the lake -if you have a room on the 4th or 5th floor. The staff at the reception are helpful and cheerful. The only downside is that it is located in a very quiet place (Montrosio - a bit boring) no boutiques, cafes or any... More

The small rooms are small but comfortable. The general manager Silvestro believes in old world service and he is the backbone of the hotel. I've known the bartender Mohamed for many years as he used to work at the Grand Hotel di Como, the sister hotel to the Imperiale, he is a gem. They had just opened their new I-Spa... More

I was there for about a week in march 2011...despite the awful weather.. it was raining condiniously... i had a great time there. The lake is a relly romantic place and the villages around are like a fairy tale. I had made a reservation for 2 standard rooms in the main building of the hotel.... but due to renovation work... I stayed here a couple of times for work. The main building is fairly 'standard', nice but not exceptional, the conference facilities are quite dated. However the lakeside building, with bar, restaurant and pool, is absolutely lovely. There are nice seating areas in the sun or shade, a reasonable sized pool right by the river and the views are absolutely... More

We had booked the Grand Imperiale Moltrasio for three nights as part of our Italian holiday earlier this month.Unfortunately due to a family illness back in Australia, we had to cut our trip short and return home. We were only able to provide the hotel 12 hours notice and was fully expecting to loose one nights accommodation as this was... More

Due to problems with our car it was impossible to use a prebooked room. I called the hotel the day before our booking and explained what had happened. A couple of days later EUR 176 was drawn from my credit card without explanation. I mailed to the hotel and they explained that this was the policy from the hotel. I... More

Dear knota, The hotel business had a dramatic change in pricing, paying and cancellation policy in the last 10years. The marked push hotels to follow the rules developed by Airplanes company. Years ago people were used to pay not refundable deposit in advance (still used in some places), rate were only connected with weather seasons. Now most of the hotel... More

By chance we got one of the last two rooms available here. We were travelling with our 10year old daughter and needed to stay where we could relax by a pool and enjoy the lake. The Hotel did not disappoint us in anyway. From the moment we arrived to the day we left the staff were so happy and friendly... More
