I stayed one night (a Sunday) at the Stapleton Arms prior to a meeting in nearby Wincanton. I arrived after a long journey to a nice friendly greeting from the girl behind the bar who showed me to a very nice comfortable room upstairs. Tastefully decorated, good size, nice bathroom with deep bath and wonderful shower. The bed was reasonably... more

I can only agree with most of the comments already given. An oustanding pub, really enjoyed the stay. The food, both breakfast and dinner, was fabulous, though not cheap (or was it the drinks bill...?!), I would have quite happily worked through the whole menu! One thing that has not been mentioned are the home made pork pies, which seeing... more

Had such a great time here, wonderful atmosphere and very local, ‘local’ in the corner over lunch, a great forecaster of the weather! All the staff are very welcoming, and it felt as if nothing would be a problem. The assistant manager Sam ran his floor expertly and he still made time for us even though he seemed a little... more

The rooms at the Stapleton arms are really quite nice and spacious, however, if you stay in room 3 you will find that you cannot have either the bedroom window or the patio door open in the evening, unless you want your room filled with cigarette smoke! every evening and in the morning after breakfast the staff and customers used... more

Stayed here on the weekend of the 18th April for one night only, to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I had read good things about The Stapleton Arms and we were not disappointed in any way by our stay. The management have got the fabric of the pub, bedrooms and restaurant just right - a great mix between cosy... more

I'd love to be able to write a review saying that I've stayed at the Stapleton Arms, but sadly this isn't the case! We booked via www.laterooms.com, reserved a room, received the confirmation and were looking forwards to a relaxing night away with some good food. What we then found out was that we'd been double-booked and our reservation cancelled... more

We spent two nights at the Stapleton Arms and loved it. The rooms are lovely (we stayed in room 4 and thought it was perfect, I had a sneaky peak in the other 3 rooms and they all looked really good), the staff are so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Great beer and amazing breakfasts (not at the... more

We stayed two nights at the Stapleton Arms. It is located in a quiet little village in the Dorset countryside. Refurbished trhee years ago, it has been tastefully renovated to provide a modern take on a village pub. The bar area is furnished with large settees as well as table & chairs. The boast a wide range of international bottled... more

I stayed here for 2 nights - and had an amazing time. The food was most enjoyable, the bar and dining room were comfortable and relaxing but not nearly as much as the gorgeous room we slept in - complete with flat screen TV and big Wet-room style shower. The staff were great to us, one chap in-particular had us... more

We stayed here for two nights this week, March 2009. Stayed in Room 4 which was practical, cosy stylish and very pleasant, if not luxurious. A fantastic shower topped it off. The inn itself is a gem, during our stay, log fires and candlelight both nights. Bliss. The setting is beautiful in both the casual, relaxed, informal bar and the... more
