We arrived by the back road, and we were visually impressed with the hotel and its setting. Ourem is a beautiful hilltop village, and the views are splendid. You enter the hotel, bypassing the most incredible display of fuchsia flowers, and once inside we were offered fresh lemonade and directed to our room. The room is nice, but kind of... more

I stayed at the pousada Conde de Ourem because I needed a place for a couple of days while I was visiting the central part of Portugal: Fatima, Tomar and Bathala. The location is fine because is a mediaval hilltop but the problems are connected to the room (not well furnished) and the food : infact there were only 2... more

Easy to find as there are signs for Pousada posted at all major roads, parking right in front, good breakfast. If not for the smell in the bathroom we probably would have like it. Get dinner ar the Rodzio Pizza in Ourem at Rua Dr. Neves Eliden - they have a wide selection of very unique and great testing pizzas... more

The location is stunning, a medieval hilltop village that you can see from miles away. The Pousada is well signposted up the hill from the new town, but there are two roads that run up the hill. One is the sensible one that is perfectly drivable and the other... I didn't find the staff as helpful as at the other... more

One of our 2 rooms in the main building has a large balcony with view of the valley. Excellent breakfast. The decor is a bit simplistic, unlike the paradores in Spain. Unless you are driving, this hotel is not convenient at all to reach with public transportation or taxi. Also be mindful if your primary objective is to visit Fatima,... more

If you want to sample a pousada in one of those whitewashed hilltop villages in Portugal, you'll struggle to find a better alternative than the Pousada at Ourem, about 90mins drive north of Lisbon. The setting is sensational as part of a converted monastery sitting high on a hill with views in all directions. As with most pousadas in Portugal,... more

This pousada isn't a very special place by itself. The rooms are average 4 star, the food and breakfast idem. The hotel itself offers nothing very special and the location isn't brilliant either. It is true that the swimming pool is a bit windy and nobody used it much. It is, on the other hand, a good option if you... more

I have stayed twice at the Conde de Ourem. This inn had the location I needed and a decent menu and a nice pool. I could never get over the contrast of the pretty, charming exterior and the ugly neo-Stalinist interiors complete with blinking fluorescent tubes. On my last visit I found a B & B called Casa Alta Royal... more

We stayed for 3 days in Sept 2004. This hotel is in a mountain walled village; it is in more than one building. The two roads up can be an adventure; we found the one closer to the hotel to be easier to drive. Don't forget to retract your mirrors going through the narrow gate. There was a swimming pool... more
